Your role

Are you passionate about designing hardware for advanced robotics systems? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where your ideas directly shape the product? At Voliro, we are redefining aerial work with cutting-edge drone technology—and we’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help take our platform, Voliro T, to the next level.
In this role, you will be at the core of our hardware development efforts. From concept to production, you’ll design and prototype mechanical components that balance lightweight construction, mechanical strength, and manufacturability. You’ll collaborate closely with our electrical, software, and operations teams to ensure full-system integration, performance, and long-term reliability.
This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-moving team where your work has immediate impact on a pioneering industrial robotics product.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, prototype, and iterate mechanical systems including frames, propulsion integration, payload mounts, and enclosures.
  • Analyze and test structural and dynamic behavior to validate mechanical robustness and performance.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure tight integration between mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
  • Optimize for real-world constraints, balancing weight, durability, thermal management, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Support the production pipeline, including coordination with suppliers and in-house assembly teams.
  • Own the reliability and robustness of mechanical components by planning and executing lifecycle, vibration, and stress testing.
  • Explore new technologies and materials through rapid prototyping, simulation, and feasibility studies.
  • Mentor interns and contribute to team knowledge-sharing and development practices.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficient in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) for 3D modeling and technical drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with mechatronics, robotics, or drone systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial manufacturing methods (CNC, injection molding, sheet metal, etc.).
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, including 3D printing and machining.
  • Solid understanding of assembly constraints, tolerancing, and DFM principles.
  • Analytical mindset with a passion for creative problem solving and technical innovation.
  • Autonomous and proactive—comfortable owning designs and pushing projects forward.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).

Bonus Points

  • Experience designing or optimizing flying systems (e.g., drones, UAVs).
  • Understanding of aerodynamics and lightweight structural design.
  • Exposure to product certification processes.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and working alongside electronics teams.

Benefits

Voliro is an opportunity for you to join a team at the forefront of the robotics industry, a team of pioneers and enthusiasts.
