Your role
Are you passionate about designing hardware for advanced robotics systems? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where your ideas directly shape the product? At Voliro, we are redefining aerial work with cutting-edge drone technology—and we’re looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to help take our platform, Voliro T, to the next level.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be a core member of the Voliro development team, collaborating closely with other electrical, mechanical, and software engineers. You will take ownership of key hardware initiatives, driving the design, validation, integration, and certification of electronics that power our unique flying robots. From component selection to production scaling, you’ll play a vital role in shaping both the product and the processes that bring it to life.
What You’ll Do
- Own end-to-end PCB development, from concept through schematic and layout to bring-up and testing.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to define hardware requirements with mechanical and software teams.
- Select hardware components based on performance, cost, size, availability, and manufacturability.
- Ensure seamless integration of electronics into the Voliro T platform.
- Drive product certification for global standards such as CE and FCC.
- Lead investigations and root-cause analysis of hardware issues in development and in the field.
- Coordinate with external suppliers and labs for prototyping, manufacturing, and compliance testing.
- Continuously improve our hardware development and production processes, with a mindset for scale and robustness.
- Mentor interns and contribute to team knowledge-sharing and development practices.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience designing electronics for robotics, drones, or embedded systems.
- Strong knowledge of PCB design, layout tools (e.g., Altium), and design for manufacturing.
- Ability to work across disciplines and articulate technical decisions with clarity.
- Deep understanding of analog/digital circuits, power systems, and embedded interfaces (e.g., UART, SPI, CAN, I2C).
- Hands-on experience with hardware testing, validation, and debugging (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).
- Familiarity with compliance and certification processes (e.g., CE, FCC).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Self-driven, pragmatic, and eager to contribute in a startup environment.
Bonus Points
- Prior experience in a startup or high-growth tech environment.
- Hands-on work with drones or aerial systems.
- Experience with radio link systems, antenna tuning, or RF design.
- Knowledge of manufacturing workflows and hardware quality assurance.
