What we're doing
Owning a home is a huge step in many people’s lives, and is also a foundational part of building financial security and wealth. However, the tools and technology supporting homeownership today are antiquated, dependent on things like fax machines, handwritten documentation, and hours of manual review.
We're here to change that.
Vesta is the next-generation system of record to power the multi-trillion mortgage market. We believe that we are overdue for a core transformation – that in order to build a fully automated process and fully digital customer journeys, lenders will have to adopt a system of record platform that is modern, open, and orchestrated by best-in-class software workflows.
Who we are
Our founding team is no stranger to the complexities of the financial industry. As early employees at Blend, they spent years together focused on creating modern cloud infrastructure for banks. Now, with Vesta, they are transforming the mortgage industry by creating the most flexible, open, and automated origination experience, benefitting financial institutions and their customers.
And, we're not alone.
We've raised $55M from top tier investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Bain Capital Ventures, Conversion Capital, Zigg Capital, and Index Ventures.
Our team is small, but mighty. We are a collection of humans who value humility, empathy, self-awareness, and an orientation towards action. If this sounds like you and you're excited by the idea of getting in at the ground level to build the infrastructure that will power the future of the financial industry, we would love to hear from you!
About the role
As our first Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist (Contract-to-Hire) at Vesta, you’ll be responsible for building and scaling the foundation of our customer Help Center—helping our users understand and adopt Vesta’s powerful product features. You’ll create high-quality documentation that empowers customers to self-serve, reduces friction in onboarding, and accelerates product comprehension across our growing user base.
In this role, you can expect to:

  • Build out Vesta’s Help Center, including information architecture, taxonomy, and content structure
  • Author and maintain clear, concise, and accurate customer-facing product documentation, how-to guides, and FAQs
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Support teams to gather technical details and translate them into customer-friendly materials
  • Develop internal documentation templates, style guides, and publishing workflows to ensure consistency and scalability
  • Continuously improve existing documentation based on user feedback, analytics, and product updates
  • Work closely with Customer Success and Support teams to identify content gaps and opportunities to enhance self-service
  • Partner with Product Marketing to align messaging, tone, and visual presentation of help content with broader brand voice
  • Help define documentation standards and processes that can scale as the company grows

Who you are

  • You are an experienced technical writer or documentation specialist with a deep appreciation for clarity, structure, and the user’s perspective.
  • You’re skilled at translating complex, technical concepts into intuitive, customer-facing content.
  • You’ve worked with web-based SaaS products and understand the importance of documentation in improving adoption and reducing support load.
  • You have experience in or adjacent to the mortgage or financial technology industry, and can quickly grasp domain-specific concepts.
  • You love organizing information—whether it’s architecting a Help Center taxonomy, writing detailed how-tos, or crafting product release notes.
  • You’re comfortable collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and customer teams to capture the most accurate and useful information.
  • You have experience creating and maintaining content in modern documentation systems (e.g., Notion, Zendesk Guide, Intercom, or similar).
  • You are self-directed, detail-oriented, and energized by building processes and content systems from scratch.
This is a contract-to-hire position, ideal for someone who thrives in startup environments, loves building from the ground up, and is excited to make a lasting impact on how our customers learn and succeed with Vesta. After 90 days, we would plan to evaluate bringing this person on as a FTE. While engaged as a contractor, the hourly wage would be $50-$70/hour based on experience.
At Vesta, we believe that the only way we can tackle the challenging problems in front of us is by having diverse perspectives and an environment that promotes inclusivity. We’re committed to equal opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, gender, gender identity, parental or pregnancy status, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, or veteran status. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. As part of our onboarding process, we participate in the E-Verify program.
