We are hiring a Full Stack Engineer with experience in developing cutting edge UI's!

At Unacast, we are on a mission to revolutionize location-based insights, exploring how people interact with the physical world. Privacy is baked into everything we do, and we partner with highly trusted, privacy friendly data providers. Unacast’s APIs and portals are built to provide valuable analytics across very large data sets, enlightening our customers to the “needle in a haystack” of big data. Our aim is to be the go-to leaders in location data and we are now looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join our effort.

The position is for the web applications team responsible for building the UI infrastructure that our customers utilize to harness the power of Unacast’s products. We are seeking a Full Stack Engineer who can contribute to the work and ensure quality and value in the products we build. The portals built and maintained by the team are one of the core building blocks of our offerings.

What you will be doing

  • Design, build, and maintain high-quality full-stack applications from concept to deployment.
  • Collaborate with product managers and other engineers to deliver features that delight users and meet business goals.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code across front-end and back-end systems.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize performance in both client-side and server-side code.
  • Participate in code reviews and help shape engineering best practices.

  • Contribute to the architecture and scalability of core systems as the platform grows.
  • Create technical documentation, as needed, for solutions.

Who we think you are

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience with both front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Proficient in modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular) and backend languages such as Node.js, Python, or Java.
  • Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including design, querying, and maintenance.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs or GraphQL endpoints.
  • Comfortable working in Agile development environments with version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows.
  • Strong understanding of design patterns, object-oriented programming, and building large-scale applications (high-availability portals, datasets ranging from 100,000 to 1,000,000+ records).
  • Ability to balance frontend and backend responsibilities for optimal performance and scalability.
  • Familiarity with browser profiling and performance optimization tools.
  • Experience creating or contributing to technical design documentation.
  • A positive and adaptable attitude, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Excellent organizational and progress-tracking skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically about trade-offs.
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English.

  • Cloud platform experience (AWS).
  • Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Automated testing frameworks and test-driven development.
  • Experience with Javascript mapping libraries like Google Maps and MapBox required. Experience with other GIS libraries.
  • Understanding of microservice architectures and event-driven systems.

  • JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular, React, Node.js, Python, Java, or Go.

This a remote position that may require occasional travel. Preference for candidates on EST or CST time zones who reside in the following states: CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, MA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, NC, RI, PA, SC, TX, VA, WV

We offer competitive salaries, benefits, and unlimited PTO. The typical base salary range for this role is $100,000 to $120,000. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, job level, internal equity and budget. Exact salary offers will be determined by the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience and geographic location.
