The Opportunity

Our CTO has built and scaled a talented team of 15+ engineers and is now shifting focus toward AI innovation, architectural direction, and core product development. We’re hiring a seasoned VP or Director of Engineering to take over day-to-day management of the engineering team, empowering developers, driving team productivity, and optimizing how we ship high-quality software.

You’ll be responsible for leading and growing a remote engineering organization, driving structure and process, and ensuring alignment with the business and product strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage a remote team of 15+ engineers across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
  • Drive the execution of product roadmap initiatives in collaboration with Product, Design, and Leadership
  • Establish engineering best practices around code quality, testing, documentation, and continuous delivery
  • Hire, coach, and mentor engineers and team leads—helping them grow and succeed
  • Build scalable processes for planning, execution, and feedback (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives, OKRs)
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership in alignment with the CT
  • Promote a culture of accountability, psychological safety, and continuous improvement
  • Own key engineering KPIs such as velocity, incident response, uptime, and team satisfaction

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of engineering leadership experience with at least 3 years managing remote or distributed teams
  • Proven success leading high-performing engineering organizations in fast-paced, startup environments
  • Strong technical background—comfortable engaging in architectural conversations (especially in Node.js / React environments)
  • Track record of recruiting, retaining, and scaling diverse engineering teams
  • Skilled in building frameworks for velocity, reliability, and team health
  • Effective communicator who can align engineering execution with company goals
  • Entrepreneurial mindset—proactive, adaptable, and thrives in ambiguity

Nice to Have

  • Experience in enterprise SaaS - payments, e-commerce, customer portals,
  • Exposure to AI or machine learning platforms
  • Background in managing cross-functional pods or squads (engineering, product, design)
  • Hands-on experience with modern dev workflows (CI/CD, trunk-based development, etc.)
