Who We Are

Tomo is a digital mortgage company on a mission to eliminate the greed and complexity in lending, helping homebuyers save thousands of dollars. Our AI-driven customer experience makes the lending process faster, less frustrating, and more affordable. By passing these savings directly to homebuyers, we eliminate excessive fees and inflated rates that cost Americans billions each year. Backed by top-tier venture investors, including Ribbit, Citi Ventures, NFX and Progressive Insurance, Tomo is poised to become one of the most valuable fintech startups of our generation.

About the Role

Tomo is seeking a deeply analytical and highly motivated Director of Strategic Finance to partner with the executive team and functional leaders. This role is central to Tomo's transition from a fast-growing digital mortgage startup to a leader in consumer real estate finance. The Director of Strategic Finance will report to the Head of Finance and lead financial & capital planning & analysis, and assist in corporate strategic activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial modeling and analysis

  • Own Tomo’s financial model, forecasting and tracking origination volume, unit economics and profitability, while ensuring we have sufficient capital to continue investing in the business and maintain our key financial covenants. You will continuously refine and improve the model as our business evolves.

  • Ad hoc financial analysis supporting key strategic decisions at the Board, executive management and business function levels

  • Lead Tomo’s quarterly planning and annual budgeting process, partnering with functional leaders to evaluate the financial impact and ROI of key initiatives

  • Capital and Risk Management

  • Manage warehouse banking relationships and monitor financial covenants.

  • Provide support for capital planning and future raises. Includes investor targeting, positioning and preparation of investor materials.

  • Corporate strategy

  • Prepare board materials and investor updates

  • Monitor and synthesize external market as well as competitor information for executive management.

  • Maintain relationships with investment banks.

Who You Are

  • A structured and analytical thinker who thrives in ambiguity. You make high-impact, calculated recommendations based on available data while rigorously and transparently managing the key risks to your assumption.

  • Exceptional cross-functional collaborator with executive presence, capable of communicating clearly and persuasively. You are unafraid to constructively challenge the status quo with data-driven insights

  • Deeply curious and first principles thinker. You aren’t just satisfied with knowing how to do something; you need to understand “the why” which consistently leads you to better and more optimized ways of operating.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3-5+ years at a top-tier investment bank (GS, JPM, Morgan Stanley), with experience in corporate finance and strategy, M&A, and capital raising.

  • Expertise in building detailed 3-statement operating models and performing scenario analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems, create logical analyses, and deliver clear takeaways.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including synthesis for senior audiences and slide deck creation.

Preferred

  • Financial Institutions Group (FIG) experience.

  • MBA from top-tier business school.

  • Experience working at a startup or high growth fintech.

  • Familiarity with dashboards, analytical tools, or SQL (helpful but not required).

Location

  • Hybrid – NYC (In office Monday–Wednesday)
