The Role
SPAN is seeking a skilled and creative Hardware Prototype Technician to join the Prototyping team. This position will be essential in creating hardware prototypes and supporting engineering and R&D projects. As a Hardware Prototype Technician, you will leverage your experience with rapid prototyping and fabrication techniques to deliver quick-turnaround parts, modify off-the-shelf components, and implement creative solutions to a wide range of design problems.
Responsibilities
Operate and program CNC milling centers, routers, and 3D printers.
Read and interpret technical drawings for prototype creation.
Fabricate metal and plastic parts using various tools.
Collaborate with multiple teams (hardware, electrical, firmware, etc.) to generate ideas and iterate on prototypes.
Design and build prototypes, test fixtures/ or other custom solutions.
Maintain records of equipment maintenance, calibration, and repairs.
Document lab procedures and workflows.
Maintain a safe, clean work environment.
Work autonomously and collaboratively in a small team.
About You
Required Qualifications
HS Diploma with 5+ years related experience.
Proficiency with 3D CAD software and rapid prototyping tools.
Proficiency with common shop tools and equipment (drills, saws, etc).
Experience with electrical instrumentation (DMMs, Oscilloscopes, etc).
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Experience with electrical (AC and DC) and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with the hardware prototyping process.
Comfortable adapting and learning new concepts and processes.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with Haas controls and G-Code.
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with home electrical wiring and similar contractor skills.
Comfort with Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Trello).
First aid / AED / CPR training.
