80% of clean energy projects that developers start never actually get built because most projects are started without deep due diligence on zoning and interconnection due to the cost of collecting that data. This means $17B worth of canceled projects per year.

Our Solution

Paces is software for developers to identify the best places to build and manage their projects. First we collect environmental, permitting, zoning, energy grid data from various different sources; then we analyze the data and use AI to identify the best places for developers to build their next projects. We then offer end to end vertical AI solutions powered by human experts to derisk projects faster than any other means.

Solutions Engineering is the human-in-the-loop power, permitting and project development experts that that produce deliverables like power-flow studies and end to end development services. We are looking for a Head of Solutions Engineering to join our team, reporting directly to the CEO.

🏆 What You’ll Achieve

• Lead a 6 → 12 person team of former project developers, power-systems and interconnection engineers

• Own delivery of all deliverables (power-flow, queue position, fatal-flaw, permit packs) as well as milestones based work like interconnection application submissions.

• Standardize processes & tools; partner with Product & Engineering to convert repeatable work into software/AI features; design feedback loops that cut human touch-time.

• Resource planning & budgeting: forecast demand, hire/contract accordingly, and hold P&L for the Solutions org.

• Data Ops oversight: ensure engagements enriches our geospatial & interconnection training dataset and that data operations becomes more efficient over time.

• Leadership: step into major commercial deals and provide deal support to sales; coach senior ICs into player-coaches; set goals aligned with Paces values

• Expertise: Act as a domain expert within Paces to shape internal methodologies and inform product development

📈 Requirements

• +7 years of leading project development, power engineering and/or permitting teams for +1MW generation or load projects.

• +3 yrs at director+ level with full delivery or P&L ownership.

• Demonstrated track record of ordering and evaluating the quality of power development deliverables like grid studies, permitting, or large-scale solar/BESS/data-center development.

• Proven history of procuring software tools and giving feedback on product features.

• experience in power system studies, transmission planning, or interconnection engineering at consultant, developer, or utility

• High-trust customer communicator able to brief C-suite and utilities.

• Ability to think beyond traditional engineering approaches and contribute to product innovation

• Extremely ambitious and passionate about creating value through creative, iterative thinking and automation

• $220,000 - 260,000 annual base compensation
