Role Overview

Pacaso is seeking a versatile and reliable Handyman Contractor to support our San Diego portfolio of luxury homes. This independent contractor will be responsible for performing general maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and completing small repair projects with professionalism and efficiency. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced with high-end residential properties, and able to deliver work that consistently meets Pacaso’s brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming environment for owners by ensuring homes are in excellent condition through preventive maintenance, reactive repairs, and capital project support.
  • Apply professional judgment to resolve owner-reported issues, including but not limited to: appliance troubleshooting, cable/WiFi troubleshooting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and pool/spa systems.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks (painting, drywall, minor carpentry, fixture replacement, etc.).
  • Conduct routine inspections and function checks to ensure properties are “show-ready” and meet Pacaso’s experience standards.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and emergency calls.
  • Provide clear documentation of work completed, including before/after photos, receipts, and status updates.
  • Support Home Managers by handling on-site inspections, troubleshooting, and light repair tasks that reduce the need for vendor outsourcing.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and local building codes.
  • Assist with due diligence inspections for new property acquisitions, identifying issues and potential liabilities.
  • Maintain basic inventory of materials, parts, and supplies for quick response.
  • Occasionally support with special projects such as furniture assembly or power-washing decks/patios before owner arrivals.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance technician, or similar role in high-end residential homes.
  • Strong working knowledge of general maintenance practices (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, pools/spas).
  • Access to own tools, equipment, and reliable transportation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently while keeping Home Managers updated.
  • Tech-savvy: able to use mobile apps for scheduling, reporting, and documentation.
  • Contractor’s license and insurance preferred (or ability to provide liability coverage).
  • Professional, courteous demeanor; ability to maintain positive relationships with homeowners and team members.
  • Ability to maneuver tight spaces and lift up to 50 lbs.

Compensation and Other Details

  • $100 Hourly compensation based on experience.
  • Independent Contractor role (not a full time position) no benefits provided.

  • Target: 15 - 20 hours per week
  • Contract length: 6 months with potential to renew or convert to full time
