Who you are

As the Director of Workplace Experience, you will be the primary stakeholder overseeing Metropolis’ corporate real estate portfolio, facilities, and related employee experience. You will be a member of the People team, working closely with other members of the Legal, and Finance teams to maximize efficiency and streamline operating costs. In this role, you will also help build a network of facilities services, provide and coordinate general office management support, project manage expansion efforts in various U.S. cities, consolidate vendors and related contracts, report on metrics, and contribute to the overall culture of the organization.

What you'll do

  • Oversee all facility services for our network of Corporate and Regional offices – primarily Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Nashville, and Seattle
  • Assist with integration efforts to combine existing offices in shared markets (Los Angeles, New York, and Nashville)
  • Drive operational excellence with vendor partners, onsite support, and internal stakeholder groups such as IT and Security
  • Contribute to the overall employee experience by directing initiatives that align with our company values – including events, employee
  • office perks such as meals and snacks, and other employee engagement drivers
  • Track and analyze office utilization in order to anticipate the company’s needs for growth; make data-driven recommendations to the leadership team
  • Own end-to-end office expansion efforts, including real estate searches and office buildouts - and related budget and construction management. Partner closely with decision-makers and key collaborators, particularly the Legal and Finance teams, to drive alignment
  • Implement and revise office-related policies
  • Manage and report on the budget for the Workplace Experience department
  • As needed, manage onsite staffing across the office network; make resource recommendations to drive efficiency and ensure operational excellence
  • Detect and fill any gaps in office management services to ensure a consistent employee experience across all major offices

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years of experience in workplace experience, facilities management, real estate, or a related field
  • Experience working for a high-growth technology company with a distributed workforce, including hourly field workers; experience in scaling facilities and services to solve for business and growth needs
  • Project management acumen, specifically in office construction
  • Strong attention to detail in approach to contract management and negotiation
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excel fluency a must
  • Experience utilizing project management tools such as Asana, ProCore, and Smartsheets
  • A proven track record in project delivery (on time / on budget) and workplace experience strategy
  • Strong budget management skills
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment and own high-visibility initiatives
  • Comfortable with cross-functional partnership and collaboration
  • Discerning and professional approach toward executive-level communications
  • Willingness to pivot and learn as projects and priorities evolve, with a tendency to stay ahead of the curve on internal trends and industry best practices

While not required, these are a plus:

  • Existing network of preferred vendor and partner relationships a plus

The anticipated base salary for this position is $165,000.00 USD to $175,000.00 USD annually. The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base salary is one component of Metropolis’s total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more. #LI-KD1 #LI-Onsite
