About the Role
Our Client is looking for a Product Owner to lead the definition, delivery, and ongoing enhancement of features that address real customer needs. This role serves as the connection between users and the development team – gathering requirements, refining solutions based on feedback, guiding delivery, and ensuring adoption through deployment and training. You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders across the full product lifecycle, from early discovery conversations and design reviews to post-launch feedback sessions for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Customer Collaboration & Requirements Development
- Lead structured interviews to identify customer needs, workflows, and requirements.
- Translate findings into clear user stories and acceptance criteria in partnership with stakeholders.
- Work directly with customers to validate requirements, clarify priorities, and ensure solutions align with real-world use cases.
Design Feedback & UI/UX Partnership
- Create mock-ups and prototypes using tools such as Figma.
- Facilitate design reviews with users to collect feedback and confirm designs address key needs.
- Incorporate feedback into iterative design improvements.
Backlog & Sprint Management
- Partner with the product leadership team to prioritize the backlog for maximum customer and business value.
- Lead pre-grooming and grooming sessions with developers to ensure shared understanding of requirements.
- Provide in-sprint feedback and review builds to guide development toward desired outcomes.
Release Planning & Ongoing Support
- Prepare release notes and user documentation to enable smooth adoption.
- Coordinate production releases, supporting deployment and training as necessary.
- Conduct post-release interviews with customers to collect feedback and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 2-5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or in a comparable role within a software development environment.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels, from end users to executives.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate product value propositions and differentiate solutions in competitive markets.
- Skilled in active listening, negotiation, and delivering impactful presentations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proven problem-solving mindset, entrepreneurial drive, and willingness to take a hands-on approach.
- Experience collaborating successfully with cross-functional teams.
- Track record of conducting customer interviews to gather requirements and validate product solutions.
- Ability to write detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Familiarity with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma) is preferred.
- Strong preference for candidates located in the Boston or Houston metro areas.
