About the Role:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Analyst to join our People Operations team. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while keeping our payroll processes compliant and efficient. You’ll be the go-to person for employee payroll questions and partner cross-functionally with the People & Accounting teams, and external vendors.
This role can be based in any Industrious market in Central or Eastern time zones. These include, but are not limited to: Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale/Miami, or Nashville.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing
- Run payroll with precision. This includes accurately processing semi-monthly payroll for approximately 500+ US employees (hourly and salaried), including base pay, variable pay, deductions, benefits contributions, and taxes.
- Validate hours worked, time-off balances, commissions, bonuses, and overtime for accuracy.
- Review payroll reports prior to final submission to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate with Finance to reconcile payroll funding and general ledger postings.
- This position may have the opportunity to support international payroll operations in Canada and Europe.
- Data & Compliance
- Maintain employee payroll records, ensuring updates for new hires, terminations, promotions, and compensation changes are entered correctly.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local laws regarding wages, deductions, tax withholdings, and reporting.
- Support annual and quarterly tax filings, audits, and compliance checks.
- Assist with year-end activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution.
- Employee Support
- Act as the first point of contact for payroll-related questions and provide timely, clear responses.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to pay, deductions, garnishments, and taxes.
- Provide guidance to employees on understanding pay statements and tax forms.
- Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Look for ways to simplify, automate, and improve how we run payroll
- Collaborate with Accounting on reconciliations, accruals, and payroll reporting.
- Maintain payroll records and audit data for accuracy, including timekeeping, pay adjustments, deductions, and benefit contributions.
About you:
- You have at least 4+ years of payroll experience for companies with more than 500 people
- You have worked for multi-site, hospitality businesses such as retail or restaurants
- You have experience with global payroll - although not a dealbreaker!
- You know the ins and outs of payroll compliance and tax rules
- You’re detail-obsessed and love spotting errors before anyone else does
- You’re comfortable in Excel and not afraid of a pivot table
- You communicate clearly and handle sensitive info with discretion
- Bonus points if you’ve worked with Workday (our HRIS), but experience with other payroll systems works too
- Most importantly, you care about delivering a great experience for employees

Compensation
The annual base compensation range for this role is between $70,000 - $75,000. The successful candidate's actual base compensation will be based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and professional qualifications. You will also be eligible for an annual 10% bonus and participation in our long-term incentive program.
Base and bonus compensation are just two components of Industrious’ total compensation package for this role.
