We’re hiring a Real Estate Counsel at our Corporate Headquarters in Columbia, MO and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction.
EquipmentShare is looking for an experienced, business-focused attorney to join our Legal Department. This role will work closely with EquipmentShare's attorneys and partner with the Real Estate, Construction, and other departments to further the Company's real estate expansion initiatives. This position reports to the Deputy General Counsel and is located in Columbia, Missouri, or remote for the right candidate. We're seeking an experienced real estate attorney who thrives on challenges and wants the opportunity to grow with a fast-paced company. Primary Responsibilities
- Lead negotiation and drafting of EquipmentShare's real estate agreements, including all ancillary documents necessary for purchases, sales, leases, sale-leasebacks, and real estate finance transactions. .
- Prepare notices, advise business partners with respect to lease disputes, and provide general transaction support.Assist with due diligence and curative efforts for land use, including zoning, title, survey, and environmental review.
- Assist in managing closing checklists for M&A, public finance, and development transactions.
- Work closely with executive leadership and colleagues across EquipmentShare's real estate, finance, accounting, economic development, and construction departments to quickly and efficiently open new locations.
- Interact directly with outside counsel, opposing counsel, landlords, title and escrow agents, and other stakeholders.
- Understand, manage, and improve EquipmentShare's legal procedures and forms to improve speed to market.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with environmental law, retail and industrial leases, with preference for attorneys who have significant representative experience with large real estate portfolios.
- Ability to effectively prioritize a high volume of active projects in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace suites, with strong technical aptitude to learn proprietary systems.
- Notary Public certification preferred.
Education and Experience:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active attorney license in good standing and admission to the bar in at least one state.
- At least 5 years of substantive legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department handling commercial real estate transactions.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit and look at a computer for long periods of time.
- Occasional travel required.
