EquipmentShare is searching for an Engineering Technician for our corporate office in Columbia, MO, to support our team as the department continues to grow.
Job Summary: The Engineering Technician will develop and test solutions to solve technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, construction, and maintenance.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists engineers as they create, modify, and test products and processes.
- Performs extensive research and development during the creation phase of the product.
- Inspects products and processes for flaws and identifies areas of improvement.
- Conducts tests and collects data.
- Utilizes computer-aided design and drafting equipment during the design phase.
- Equipment Set up, maintenance, and calibration.
- Follow safety procedures and ensure proper operation of equipment and handling of materials and chemicals.
- Keep the lab clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Performs work under direct supervision.
- Comfortable handling basic issues and problems.
- Mechanical aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including gears, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
- Blueprint reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
- Problem-solving: Effective troubleshooting and analytical skills to identify the root cause of mechanical issues.
- Basic computer skills: Familiarity with software for data analysis and documentation.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent education or experience required.
- Technical school or an applicable skilled trades program, preferred.
- Up to 2 years of experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, or both for prolonged periods at a desk and/or machine.
- Routinely lifts, carries and moves materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
