Role Overview: Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis

On-site Monday-Friday | Richmond, VA

CoStar Group is seeking a Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis to join our Sales Finance team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a finance leader looking to accelerate their career within a high-growth, industry-leading organization. In this highly visible role, you will oversee the commission strategy, administration, and analytics function supporting more than 900 sales professionals while partnering closely with senior leaders across Finance, Sales, Human Resources, and Operations.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Finance, you will lead a team responsible for the accurate and timely calculation of sales commissions, while also influencing compensation plan design, business performance analytics, and strategic decision-making. Beyond commission management, this role offers broad exposure to forecasting, budgeting, financial modeling, process automation, and executive-level reporting, providing a unique opportunity to expand your leadership and business partnership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of financial analysts to develop, model, calculate, and report on commission plans.

  • Design, develop, and maintain commission plans that align with company objectives, sales goals, and individual performance metrics.

  • Partner with Sales Leadership, Finance, and Human Resources to perform commission plan analyses and ensure process consistency, quality, and accuracy.

  • Provide strategic recommendations and insights regarding sales compensation programs to support business objectives and revenue growth.

  • Maintain comprehensive commission plan documentation and develop effective communication strategies to improve plan understanding across the sales organization.

  • Create ad hoc financial analyses and executive-level reporting for business leaders and senior management.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and enhance commission-related processes and reporting.

  • Oversee the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of commission calculation systems, partnering with Finance and Technology teams to ensure accuracy and reliability.

  • Ensure strong controls, audit readiness, and compliance with all commission-related policies and procedures.

  • Track and monitor individual and team performance while coaching and developing talent within the commissions and sales finance function.

  • Support broader Finance initiatives, including forecasting, budgeting, financial planning, and strategic analysis projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited, not-for-profit, in person university/college.
  • 5+ years of experience in Finance, Business Management, or Accounting, demonstrating professional growth and a trend of increasing responsibility.
  • Experience in people management or team lead.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Power Point skills and experience with commissions/incentive compensation systems or other financial systems
  • Experience in Commissions, Sales Finance, Sales Operations or Corporate Finance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive level professionals within and outside of Finance.
  • Proven track record in recruiting, training, and managing finance staff.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a high transactional environment.
  • Detailed-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and analytical thinking.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of people management experience, leading successful teams of 4+ individual contributors.
  • The ideal candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills with a record of accomplishment working successfully with both financial and non-finance professionals.
  • An analytical business background, problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and/or business intelligence tools (Power BI).
  • Advanced knowledge of leveraging Power Query.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting.

The final salary or hourly rate offered for this role will fall within the range set forth below based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.

Base Compensation: $119,000.00 - 161,000.00 USD Annual
