The Senior Windows Engineer is responsible for maintaining a standardized endpoint solution for our corporate users. Reporting to IT Support Engineering, this engineer will be heavily involved in the company's Windows 11 deployments and ongoing maintenance — including provisioning, customization, and optimization using Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot. They will work closely with Management, Endpoint Engineering, and the Service Desk team to gather business needs, and to design, build, and test enterprise images, configurations, and application packages for production deployment. This role also mentors junior engineers and Service Desk staff and helps set technical standards for the Windows endpoint estate.

This position can be located in Arlington, VA or Richmond, VA and offers a hybrid schedule of 4 days onsite, 1 day remote.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain standardized Windows 11 provisioning using Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot (including Autopilot device preparation)

  • Manage device identity and enrollment through Entra ID join and Hybrid Azure AD join

  • Package and deploy Business Line Applications for Windows 11 using Win32 (.intunewin), MSIX, and the PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit (PSADT)

  • Author and maintain configuration profiles, security baselines, compliance policies, and Windows LAPS

  • Manage patching and servicing through Windows Autopatch and Windows Update for Business — update rings, feature and quality updates, and Delivery Optimization

  • Support enterprise rollout of security and software automation across a co-managed environment using Intune, BigFix, and GPOs

  • Develop endpoint reporting and analytics using Intune Endpoint Analytics, proactive remediations, and Intune/Graph reporting to monitor and improve fleet health

  • Evaluate and configure hardware platforms

  • Handle endpoint escalation tickets through the ITSM process (Jira Service Management and Jira Core), following through to verified resolution

  • Mentor junior engineers and Service Desk staff, and help define technical standards, documentation, and best practices

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit, in-person university or college.

  • A track record of commitment to prior employers

  • 3+ years managing Windows endpoints

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot provisioning

  • Experience managing device identity using Entra ID join / Hybrid Azure AD join

  • Experience packaging and deploying applications (Win32/.intunewin, MSIX, PSADT)

  • Experience with security baselines, compliance policies, App protection policies, configuration policies, and Windows LAPS in Microsoft Intune

  • Experience with patching and servicing via Windows Autopatch / Windows Update for Business

  • Familiarity with co-management using Intune and BigFix

  • Experience with endpoint reporting and analytics (Endpoint Analytics, proactive remediations, Intune/Graph reporting)

  • Experience with CIS endpoint security best practices

  • Industry best practice knowledge of Windows image set up, automation and deployment

  • Ability to troubleshoot Windows problems in a mobile environment

  • Understanding of automation scripting using PowerShell in Windows

  • Excellent time management skills and commitment to follow through on trouble issues to successful, verified resolution

  • Creative & innovative thinker with the ability to provide solutions to complex problems

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Ability to write concise and detailed documentation.

  • Strong customer service focus and excellent interpersonal skills

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or Service Desk staff

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience with ITSM tooling — Jira Service Management (JSM) and Jira Core

  • Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102)

  • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900) and/or Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900)

  • ITIL Foundation certification

  • Experience in Citrix environment

The final salary or hourly rate offered for this role will fall within the range set forth below based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.

Base Compensation: $78,000 - $117,000 Annually
