About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Senior Product Manager with a strong foundation in accounting, finance, or financial software to join our CoStar Real Estate Manager and Visual Lease teams. In this role, you will help shape cutting-edge Financial, Accounting, and Portfolio Management solutions used by thousands of companies worldwide. A core focus of the role is lease accounting compliance, including standards such as ASC 842, IFRS 16, and GASB 87, though candidates with adjacent accounting or financial software experience are strongly encouraged to apply and will be considered competitively.
This is a full-time, in-office position based in either Iselin, NJ or Atlanta, GA.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop Deep Accounting Domain Expertise: Organize and share best practices related to corporate lease accounting processes
Stay updated on lease accounting rules established by domestic and international financial accounting governing bodies
Leverage research and other educational content
Engage key customers, prospects, service partners, analysts and industry subject matter experts (“external stakeholders”) to keep a pulse of lease accounting best practices and common needs and roadblocks
Engage key internal teams such as Sales, Support, Implementation and Alliances (“internal stakeholders”) to understand the impact of persistent lease accounting roadblocks and needs
Document and share updated best practices internally and externally as needed
Maintain Backlog: Capture, groom lease accounting backlog items and inform prioritization decisions
Serve as the primary point of contact to collect and prioritize all feedback related to lease accounting functionality
Capture and continuously update backlog details for all Lease Accounting-related items so they reflect relevant insights from stakeholders and market research
Use analytics tools to track product performance and drive improvements
Provide prioritization recommendations to Product Leadership to optimize business value, aligning customer demands, regulatory needs and company goals
Design Release-Ready functionality: Design easy to use, effective and scalable lease accounting functionality to address market needs
Document and share all technical requirements
Collaborate with Product Designer to meet internal design requirements while addressing user needs
Work with Product Leadership to approve designs and requirements aligned with business goals
Partner with Engineering to ensure accurate execution and conduct functional testing for iterative improvements
Quality Assurance & Acceptance Testing
Develop clear acceptance criteria and advise on testing plans
Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) and work with QA teams to identify and resolve defects
Ensure Adoption: Enable successful lease accounting product adoption
Lead feature demos using realistic lease data. Communicate technical requirements clearly to internal teams in-person or virtually. Expose and address release risks.
Recommend implementation and training approaches and ensure materials capture technical details
Work with Product Marketing to ensure GTM materials accurately capture functionality
Gather feedback from internal stakeholders to determine customer acceptance and alignment
Monitor and analyze adoption using user analytics (Pendo) and support cases post-release (Salesforce) to capture additional backlog items that address customer issues.
Basic Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited, not-for-profit, In-person University or College.
5+ years of direct or indirect experience in accounting, lease accounting, financial reporting, or compliance roles.
5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner or Business Analyst
Familiarity with financial reporting and disclosures, audit processes, and regulatory compliance requirements for public and private entities.
Comfortable working with engineering teams to effectively bridge the gap between technical needs and business needs.
Ability to translate complex functional requirements into clear, actionable tasks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both business and technical audiences.
A track record of commitment to prior employers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Product Manager, Product Owner, or Business Analyst experience in accounting, financial reporting, ERP, or financial software; lease accounting experience is a plus but not required — candidates with adjacent domain expertise are strongly encouraged to apply.
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field or CPA
