Role Overview: Global Security Operations Manager
Richmond, VA | In office, Monday-Friday
The Global Security Operations Manager supports the leadership and execution of a multi-functional security team at the Richmond Corporate Campus and reports directly to the Director of Corporate Security & Safety Operations. This role is responsible for supporting the safety and security of employees, facilities, and assets while contributing to Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) activities, including risk assessments, incident response, crisis support, and day-to-day security operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Direct, supervise, and support GSOC personnel, including proprietary team members and contract operators.
Foster accountability, operational excellence, and continuous professional development.
Partner closely with the contract account manager to ensure alignment on personnel management and operational expectations.
Operational Oversight
Oversee 24/7 GSOC operations, including: Threat monitoring, incident detection and triage, operational readiness.
Ensure consistent and effective execution across all shifts.
Incident Management & Emergency Coordination
Oversee GSOC operators in identifying, documenting, and triaging incidents.
Coordinate video review and evidence preservation activities.
Ensure: timely escalation to investigative personnel. effective dispatch of physical security resources, stakeholder notifications, accurate situation reporting.
Intelligence Monitoring & Communication
Oversee intelligence monitoring operations utilizing platforms such as Everbridge to track emerging risks and events.
Ensure timely dissemination of relevant intelligence.
Support employee communications to enhance situational awareness and informed decision-making.
Security Programs, Policies & Compliance
Implement and enforce security protocols, policies, and procedures.
Conduct: security assessments, vulnerability analyses, operational audits.
Identify operational gaps, ensure compliance, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Security Technology
Support the implementation, optimization, and ongoing enhancement of security technologies used for monitoring, detection, and response.
Crisis & Risk Management
Support the execution of crisis management and emergency response plans.
Conduct ongoing risk assessments to identify and mitigate emerging threats.
Coordination & Strategic Partnerships
Coordinate with: Regional security teams, physical security personnel, vendors and law enforcement agencies.
Maintain strong external partnerships to enhance operational effectiveness and information sharing.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
Prepare and deliver reports on: security incidents, operational trends, performance metrics.
Provide leadership with clear communication and actionable insights.
Training & Awareness
Support the development and delivery of training programs and security awareness initiatives to strengthen organizational readiness and team capability.
Flexible Availability
Primarily aligned to a daytime, Monday–Friday schedule.
Expected to engage directly with evening and overnight personnel as operational needs require.
Requires a hands-on leadership presence, including availability outside standard business hours during onboarding, training, and periods of elevated operational demand.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform additional duties as needed to support the development, maturity, and effectiveness of GSOC operations.
Contribute to building and refining: policies, post orders, operational procedures and processes
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college/university.
Demonstrated commitment and tenure with prior employers.
5–8 years of experience in: security operations, intelligence operations and emergency communications environments. Examples include GSOC, Emergency Operations Center (EOC), or 911/Department of Emergency Communications environments.
Experience should reflect sustained, hands-on responsibility in a primary operational role rather than limited or occasional assignments.
Demonstrated supervisory experience or experience serving as an informal operational leader, including: guiding team members, supporting performance management, contributing to day-to-day operational execution.
Strong understanding of: security technologies & operational best practices.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced security certifications such as: Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP)
Experience in GSOC operations and crisis management.
Experience with personnel badging and credentialing processes.
Proficiency with: security management software and incident reporting tools
Familiarity with: open-source intelligence (OSINT) research techniques and social media monitoring
Ability to operate effectively in high-stress environments while maintaining confidentiality.
Strong knowledge of: physical security systems and video surveillance technologies, including Genetec
Knowledge of: emergency response procedures and crisis management protocols
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
