Role Overview: Benefits and Leave Analyst

Arlington, VA | In-office, Monday-Friday

The Benefits & Leave Analyst is responsible for the administration and continuous improvement of CoStar Group’s leave of absence and disability programs, ensuring compliant, consistent, and employee-focused delivery across the leave lifecycle. This role serves as a primary point of contact for complex leave cases, partnering with employees, managers, HR, Legal, Payroll, and third-party administrators to resolve issues and enhance the overall experience. In addition, the analyst supports core benefits programs, including health and welfare and retirement plans, manages vendor relationships and data integrity, and contributes to process improvements, program enhancements, and broader Benefits team initiatives.

Responsibilities

Leave Administration

  • Ensure accurate administration of the company's disability and time off programs by interpreting leave policies, liaising with employees, managers, vendors and internal stakeholders.

  • Effectively manage vendors related to the execution of leave of absence administration, including holding vendors accountable for meeting their service requirements and providing superb customer service to CoStar employees, managers and Human Resources contacts.

  • Drive successful resolution of leave cases by monitoring claims, working with CoStar’s third party administrators, facilitating employee transition from short-term to long-term disability and coordinating return-to-work activities.

  • Ensure proper pay for employees on leave by providing employees guidance and advice to pay to Payroll.

  • Monitor benefit premiums payment for employees on leave/returning from leave and coordinate premium collection activities with Payroll.

  • Keep internal stakeholders aware of complex cases by producing reports, providing status updates, and seeking advice as necessary.

Worker’s Compensation Administration

  • In collaboration with Finance/Risk Management, develop, implement, improve existing and administer Workers’ Compensation policies and procedures for CoStar Group.

  • Ensure timely reporting of claims to Workers’ Compensation vendor by serving as the primary point of contact for all Workers’ Compensation claims and liaising with supervisors, employees, and other internal stakeholders.

  • Administer all aspects of Workers’ Compensation claims, including coordination of return-to-work for employees receiving Workers Compensation benefits.

Benefits Program Management

  • Coordinate daily benefit processing - enrollments, terminations, changes, etc.

  • Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly invoices and the preparation of payment of invoices for all group plans.

  • Provide service support to internal and external customers.

  • Implement and maintain benefit records in Workday. Provide technical support, test system functionality and work with end users to provide system support and troubleshoot system problems.

  • Evaluate and revise internal processes to increase efficiency.

  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations.

  • Assure timeliness and accuracy of required compliance filings.

  • Assist with the design implementation of benefit programs.

  • Assist in the management of the benefit plan renewal process.

  • Examine possible plan design and/or benefit cost alternatives.

  • Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefits package.

  • Create and conduct benefits of presentations.

  • Provide training and support to human resources staff.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college/university.

  • A track record of commitment and success with prior employers.

  • 2+ years’ experience related benefits or employee benefit administration experience required.

  • Experience within an ERP system.

  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, IRS and DOL requirements.

  • Proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point.

  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.

  • Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgments on proposals.

  • Excellent communication and organization skills.

  • Capability of effective planning and priority settings.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years’ experience related benefits or employee benefit administration experience desired.

  • Professional designations preferred.

  • Workday is strongly desired.

  • Experience in EMEA benefits programs.

  • Project and team management/leadership skills and experience.
