POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Engineering & Operations Intern (EOI) will join the team during the summer, contributing value in a variety of ways on the engineering and operations teams. Collaborating with our engineering and operations leaders, the EOI will provide support for robotics repairs & maintenance, production throughput, specialized fabrication, and factory workflows. SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Work in an industrial, manufacturing environment, operating robotics, hand tools, and other machine tools.
  • Support the Mechanical Engineer, Production Manager, and others with the development and evaluation of a wide range of assemblies, mechanisms, and processes.
  • Operate portions of our robotics fleet in 3D printing, foaming, and milling.
  • Research and source appropriate materials and tools needed.
  • Participate in on-site and in-factory installations as requested.
  • Perform and record engineering processes (e.g. calibration, diagnostics, alignment)
  • Prototype parts and assemblies.
  • Clean, rebuild, troubleshoot manufacturing equipment under supervision of Mechanical Engineer.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

  • Completion of or progress toward a relevant STEM degree, such as engineering
  • Professional communication and documentation skills
  • Willingness to be hands on in the factory, working with hand/power tools
  • Ability to work on a job site as necessary, including lifting up to 75lbs and assembly of parts for project installations
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities for the purpose of learning
  • Available to work 40 hours per week for at least 10 weeks in the summer

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Proven experience with robotics, 3D printing, or mechanical engineering
  • Demonstrable experience with Solidworks or similar software
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight to job sites to be part of the install team
