The Global Solution Owner Automation and AI is responsible for leading the products, architecture, vendor relationships, and compliance globally.
This role handles the rollout of new solutions in support of People & Culture strategy, business requirements, and safeguarding bp’s interests, while supporting the day-to-day integrity of the Virtual Assistant and AI solutions.
The role serves as an internal consultant and key liaison between the Operations & Advisory leadership and Operational Excellence team; Centres of Expertise, Technology, and outside service providers regarding best methodologies, tools, and technology needed to deliver PC&C solutions.
The purpose of this role is to support bp colleagues in navigating people and culture digital applications; innovate and deliver P&C solutions globally, ensuring compliance and consistency across Business & Technology Centres, and driving continuous improvement and efficiency; resolve sophisticated technical application issues; coach other application support specialists and to develop insights and knowledge materials that can be used to improve the people and culture digital experience. The role is not just “to own a chatbot” – it’s owning the digital PC&C experience layer.
Key Accountabilities:
- Accountable for the functionality and operational integrity of AI and Virtual Assistant solutions / products
- Define and own the vision, roadmap and success metrics
- Responsible for identifying and implementing internal and external standard methodology in this space
- Analyze problems and develop robust solutions
- Integrate Automation and AI solutions with other O&A global solutions
- Identify innovations and efficiencies in line with policy requirements - Enhance solutions to meet future requirements and Technology / PC&C requirements
- Balance innovation with compliance, risk and employee trust
- Lead the team to translating requirements into product / technical requirements and AI used cases
- Work closely with the technical / development teams to bring the requirements to life
- Provide innovative solutions to compliance requirements
- Identify technology requirements and embed solutions
- Ensure documentation and training is in place
- Partner with O&A operations for seamless handoffs
- Share insights, risks, and opportunities with business leadership
- Lead a portfolio of change projects - Be a thought-leader in Virtual Assistant and AI solutions through external networking and landscape analysis
- Be responsible for the Virtual Assistant critical metrics and continuously work on improving conversation design, intent coverage. Provide feedback on knowledge quality
- Being responsible for a portfolio of change projects, ranging in size and complexity, in support of an agreed the roadmap
- Agree and lead annual budgets accordingly
- Be a thought-leader in bp in AI and Virtual Assistant solutions through extensive external networking and continuous landscape analysis
- Own and prioritize the product backlog
- Work with team to define user stories, acceptance criteria and success measures
- Work in agile delivery methods (sprints, releases, iteration cycles)
- Ensure timely and high quality delivery of features and improvements
- Use analytics to identify gaps in automation and to understand and identify employee needs and trends
- Leverage conversation data to continuously train and improve models
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, digital security, legal etc
- Handle AI risks such as bias, hallucination and inappropriate responses
- Establish guardrails, approval flows and audit ability
- Remain up to date with AI trends and product enhancements
- Run experiments and pilots for new features
Building partnerships
- Managing relationships with numerous internal senior leaders
- Securing alignment on priorities and managing their requirements / expectations on projects
- Building strategic relationships / partnerships with external partners where appropriate
- Assisting I&E in the operational oversight of our vendors / partners

- Inspiring and motivating a permanent team, and third-party project resources, to deliver great results
- Building a team that find the optimal balance of WHAT they deliver and HOW they deliver
- Presents highest level of professional individual contribution and imparts technical expertise to lower level team members;
- Advises and directs subordinates and project resources to help accomplish assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies;
- Reviews and evaluates team members’ performance.
Crucial Education:
- Degree and / or professional qualification
- Broad technical experience in discipline with 10+ years’ experience
- Graduate/post-graduate degree in Business Management, HR, Computer Science, or related subject area
- Higher level degrees (e.g., MA, MBA, PhD) and other professional certifications and accreditations are advantageous
Experience and Job Requirements:
Actively working to develop capability in line with the P&C Capability Framework, with an equal blend of EQ, IQ and drive.
- Quality certifications like Six Sigma are desired but not mandatory
- Significant experience in building digital strategies and roadmaps
- Systems development and implementation
- Corporate-wide implementation of global systems and processes
- Strong understanding of Automation and AI solutions and technology market
- Advanced project management methodologies experience with ability to create/handle comprehensive project plans
- Comprehensive broad knowledge of P&C systems and web applications
- Possesses/applies advanced HR systems experience/judgment
- Good knowledge of technology trends
Technical Capability
- Automation, AI Exposure
- Skilled at using data and analytics to identify outcomes and improve decision-making
- Validated experience in multiple organisational change management roles
- Expertise in development/delivery of SAAS/Cloud-based products including integrations
- Consistent track record of project/program leadership sills including stakeholder management/change expertise
- Ability to structure and convey complex messages and insights
