This is a role within the Castrol organisation and the successful candidate will become part of the Castrol ring-fence. If you are part of the ring-fence, it is expected that your employment will move with Castrol to new ownership.
Role Overview
The Digital Portfolio Manager supports the effective operation of Castrol’s digital organisation. The role brings together portfolio oversight, financial planning, vendor management, risk control, and performance reporting. It plays a central part in ensuring that digital work is aligned, well‑governed, and delivering value.
This position works closely with the CIO and digital leadership team to coordinate priorities, manage investment cycles, and maintain a clear operating rhythm across the function.
Key Responsibilities
The role manages the digital portfolio across programmes, products, and major change initiatives. It ensures consistent reporting, structured governance, and visibility of risks, dependencies, and delivery progress.
Portfolio, Governance & Delivery
Lead the digital portfolio and coordinate governance forums such as the Portfolio Board and Architecture Review Board
Maintain standards for project and product reporting and delivery
Monitor portfolio health, value, capacity, and alignment with business priorities
Financial Management
Prepare the digital budget across run and change activities
Support investment cases, forecasts, and financial submissions
Track actuals against forecast and provide clear variance insights
Vendor & Sourcing
Shape supplier strategy with the Digital Category Lead
Manage strategic suppliers, including performance, SLAs, KPIs, and renewals
Oversee contract hygiene and supplier‑related risk management
Risk, Controls & Compliance
Maintain the digital risk register and support audit, SOX, GDPR, and operational resilience requirements
Coordinate digital policies, standards, and assurance activities
Operating Model & Ways of Working
Own the Digital Operating Model, including roles and decision rights
Support consistent processes across delivery, service, architecture, security, and commercial operations
Drive improvements that simplify and strengthen ways of working
CIO Rhythm & Communications
Coordinate the CIO’s operating rhythm, including leadership meetings, reviews, and planning cycles
Produce dashboards, metrics, and board‑level reporting
Support internal communications such as town halls, newsletters, and leadership updates
Data, Insights & Analytics
Maintain a single source of truth for digital KPIs
Develop dashboards and reporting automation to support decision‑making
People & Culture
Support workforce planning, capability development, and job architecture
Partner with People & Culture on leadership development and recruitment
Contribute to engagement and ways‑of‑working initiatives across the digital organisation
Skills & Experience
The role calls for a blend of portfolio management, financial understanding, and operational coordination. It requires comfort working across technical and non‑technical teams and the ability to bring structure to complex environments.

Ability to balance strategic thinking with day‑to‑day delivery
Collaborative approach and steady working style
Backgrounds that align well with this role include digital, technology, strategy, operations, or IT finance. Experience in global or matrixed organisations, or in environments undergoing transformation, is also relevant. A degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is helpful but not required.
