Job Description:

The Global Procurement Policy & Compliance Manager owns the end‑to‑end governance of global procurement policies, standards, and compliance frameworks across all regions and categories.

This role ensures the organization operates with strong procurement field, manages commercial and regulatory risk effectively, and maintains readiness for Day‑1 operations in transformation environments.

Serve as the primary owner of global procurement policies, ensuring they are up‑to‑date, aligned with Castrol requirements, and embedded consistently across Procurement.

Develop, update and govern the procurement policy framework, including procedures, controls, templates, and guidance documents.

Ensure the Category Management Policy and associated frameworks remain correctly applied across all procurement categories.

Lead the global compliance framework for procurement, ensuring robust adherence to regulatory, operational, commercial, and ethical standards.

Oversee compliance programs including CDD, LRMS, and risk‑and‑control integration relevant to procurement processes. Secure optimal, compliant, and competitive, risk-managed procurement outcomes.

Key Accountabilities

Procurement Compliance

  • Lead and manage compliance activities across Procurement & Supply Chain to ensure alignment with internal policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
  • Ensure necessary compliance and assurance process in place to meet control frameworks and 3 lines of defense.
  • Conduct internal process reviews, and system checks to identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare internal reports and make corrective and preventive action recommendations.
  • Maintain, develop and implement policies, procedures, and documentation to support consistent, compliant operations for the sake of continual improvement.
  • Monitor compliance issues, track corrective actions, and partner with key partners to drive resolutions.
  • Support ERP-related compliance, including permissions, data accuracy, and process adherence.
  • Develop and deliver compliance reporting, dashboards, and insights for Leadership, Finance, and Legal teams.
  • Provide training and communication to ensure team members understand and follow compliance expectations.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting for external audit readiness.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, responding to documentation requests and managing remediation actions.

Team integration: Helps to create and embraces a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement in their teams. Develops their technical skills and represents the interests of their region / site / asset across procurement and the broader organization.

  • Collaborates across procurement with the business and, where appropriate, with suppliers to create a ‘one team’ mentality
  • Builds region / site / asset knowledge across the wider procurement organization to ensure delivery of their objectives
  • Develops their technical capabilities and accelerator skills
  • Embraces psychological safety, and bp values, as a foundation for collaborative learning, ideation and innovation
  • Aligned with Castrol policies and procedures to ensure compliance

Supplier & Stakeholder Management: Uses storytelling to communicate impactfully with collaborators and external partners, respectfully challenging to achieve the right outcomes, resolving conflict and focusing on priorities.

  • Influences through complexity and ambiguity, managing virtual relationships with stakeholders in multi-discipline, multi-cultural environments​
  • Builds good partner relationships, bringing market insights and championing supplier value whilst taking time to understand business needs. Becomes a trusted advisor and critical partner to stakeholders
  • Builds relationships with the procurement teams globally, understanding partner feedback and proactively working to build procurements reputation and return on investment

Essential Experience and Job Requirement

Functional knowledge: Must have an understanding of and be adept at developing and maintaining business context including an understanding of strategic direction, priorities, stakeholders, and strategy.

  • Knowledge of controls and compliance.
  • Ability to develop a quick understanding of business objectives and harmonize it with controls and compliance programmed

Business expertise: Good partner management and influencing skills in order to develop a deep understanding of the supported businesses / regions / assets and their priorities, including long term objectives.

  • Critical thinking and commercial competence
  • An understanding of working in and navigating complex multi-national businesses
  • Track record in collaborating with businesses / partners to deliver continuous improvement

Leadership: An SME, who shares knowledge with the wider team and drives delivery of business and procurement priorities. Collaborates across procurement, the businesses, suppliers and beyond to achieve their regions / assets goals.

  • Experience in leading initiatives internationally, recognizing cultural nuances, analyzing data-driven trends & insights, and employing agile/flexible approaches
  • An advocate for our code, they incorporate the Operating Management System (OMS) and our safety leadership principles into strategies and everyday work

Problem solving: The role requires the ability to partner with the business to develop innovative solutions, clearing blockers and enabling delivery. It also requires judgement to translate business requirements into a demand plan.

  • Embraces industry challenges and technological disruption, pioneers' innovative solutions whilst managing risk
  • Brings multiple parties (procurement, business, suppliers) together to collaboratively solve complex problems
  • Manages conflict to successful resolution while maintaining relationships with key partners

  • Good judgement in order to translate business requirements into a strategic delivery plan, aligned with the categories, to inform strategic decisions

Interpersonal skills: The role demands strong people skills to engage with diverse partners.

  • Strong senior partner networking and influencing skills to ensure consensus and adoption, building a reputation as a strategic partner to the regions / sites / assets
  • Experience in regular interaction with external suppliers and representing Castrol externally
  • Effective change management is key, requiring good influencing, engagement and storytelling abilities
  • Persevering through organizational complexity and resistance to change, key to leading transformational change
