Job Description:

The Operations Procurement Delivery Senior Manager – AsPac leads a virtual team which delivers operations categories in to a region / asset. Their team ensures category activities, for that specific category, in the region / asset are aligned to both the categories strategy, procurement strategy and the region’s strategic business priorities. They report, via a dotted line, to procurement delivery leadership in the region / asset.

Their team represents the ‘voice’ of a category within the region / asset, liaising with the global category team(s) to deliver their regions / sites / assets priorities for that category. They balance business needs with category plans ensuring they are in aligned.

In addition their teams act as the primary point of contact for suppliers, to their categories, in the region and support business integrity and crisis activities, related to their category, to reduce operational risk and cost.

They are a people leader in their region / site / asset, overseeing people matters for their virtual team and providing day to day coaching, support and leadership. They work with their peers to share ideal ways of working, making procurement more efficient and effective.

They cultivate partnerships with senior customers and collaborate to deliver step changes in 3rd party spend management. They have high commercial competence ensuring alignment with business goals and delivering secure optimal, compliant, and competitive, risk-managed procurement outcomes.

A transformational leader, adept at change management, who builds high performing teams through displaying emotional understanding and fostering resilience.

Key Accountabilities

  • Builds high performing teams, in their region / asset, through energizing and engaging leadership providing clear direction to their procurement delivery teams.

  • Cultivates relationships with multiple senior business stakeholders, aligning on business and category priorities and collaborating to deliver them.

  • Delivers modernization & transformation activities, leading optimization of regional category delivery aligned to the broader procurement and category strategic transformation agenda.

  • Manages category region / asset performance to meet and exceed the relevant targets, including safety and compliance metrics.

  • Builds region / site / asset knowledge across the wider procurement organization and within their category to ensure delivery of their objectives.

  • Develops the team’s technical capabilities and nurtures accelerator skills; curiosity in external markets, innovation and technological disruption, digital fluency, data-driven insights, and strong collaboration.

  • Establishes an environment of psychological safety as a foundation for collaborative learning, ideation and innovation.

  • Provides coaching and guidance to their direct or matrix teams.

  • Promotes compliance with bp's Code of Conduct (CoC), policies and procedures to ensure compliance, actively demonstrate and role model bp’s Who We Are expectations.

  • Skilled at leading and influencing through complexity and ambiguity, managing virtual relationships in multi-discipline, multi-cultural environments.

  • Builds deep relationships, bringing market insights and championing supplier value whilst taking time to understand business needs. Becomes a trusted advisor and critical partner.

  • Builds relationships with the procurement teams globally, understanding feedback and proactively working to build procurements reputation and value.

  • Maintains close connectivity with category leadership and FB&T ensuring appropriate prioritization and resourcing.

  • Oversees orchestration of change across a diverse stakeholder landscape.

  • Employs digital tools to drive innovation and value creation.

  • Uses storytelling and strong communication to encourage adoption.

Essential Education, Experience & Job Requirements

  • Degree educated - something related to Procurement preferred - or equivalent relevant professional experience.

  • Post graduate qualification related to procurement desirable.

  • PTK 007 certification is required.

  • Deep knowledge of category management principles.

  • Good knowledge of their portfolio of categories.

  • A comprehensive understanding of how to ensure strategies flow through to execution in the businesses / assets.

  • A deep experience in guiding global teams in critical thinking to uncover insights, drive value, and drive innovation.

  • Strong strategic thinking with excellent commercial acumen.

  • An understanding of working in and navigating complex multi-national businesses.

  • Track record in collaborating with highly complex businesses / customers to deliver continuous improvement.

  • Set the tone for their matrix teams.

  • Lead their team in managing the category portfolio in their regions / assets, making interventions and dealing with escalations.

  • Collaborate with the global category team and FB&T, role modelling an end to end procurement mindset.

  • Leading end to end execution of business, category and procurement KPIs / OKRs.

  • Creates avenues to share learnings in support of creating high performing teams.

  • Manages conflict to successful resolution while maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Matches market capability with business requirements and develop the strategic options for the category.

  • The ability to evaluate innovative solutions and manage risk.

  • Strong judgement in order to translate business requirements into a strategic delivery plan aligned with their category, supported by critical thinking to make informed strategic decisions.

  • Strong senior stakeholder networking and influencing skills to ensure buy in and adoption, building a reputation as a strategic partner to the regions / sites / assets.

  • Experience in regular interaction with external suppliers and representing bp externally.

  • Effective change management is key, requiring exceptional influencing, engagement and storytelling abilities.

  • Persevering through organizational complexity and resistance to change, key to leading transformational change.
