Job Profile Summary
The Technical Delivery Manager – Data & AI is accountable for the end‑to‑end delivery of sophisticated, enterprise‑scale Data programmes with steadfast focus on using AI. This role leads the transition of data and AI use cases from technical win through production, adoption, and value realisation.
The role requires strong data platform proficiency (including Databricks, ADH and distributed data systems), hands‑on coding literacy, and delivery leadership. This is a customer‑facing role, working with business collaborators, platform teams, partners, and delivery organisations to ensure successful outcomes at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivery & Programme Leadership
- Lead delivery of large, sophisticated Data and AI programmes or multiple concurrent projects from inception through outcome delivery.
- Own demand planning, prioritisation, forecasting, and budgeting across the data delivery portfolio.
- Define, lead and supervise delivery to agreed methodology, quality standards, and architectural principles.
- Act as the primary partner concern point for delivery issues from a customer perspective and own effort estimation for delivery, bids, and engagement planning.
- Ensure formal acceptance of work and successful transition to steady‑state operations.
Customer & Partner Management
- Engage with Solutions Architects to understand prioritised customer demand and use‑case plans.
- Serve as the accountable technical lead across customers, selling teams and internal collaborators and lead senior customer relationships, including business collaborators, to set and handle expectations
- Resolve sophisticated delivery customer concerns with senior leaders.
Data & AI Use Case Execution
- Lead onboarding, enablement, launch and healthy production consumption of Data & AI workloads.
- Be the first point of contact for production and launch technical issues across multiple use cases.
- Develop and implement a clear point‑of‑view on accelerating priority Data & AI use cases into production and coordinate with Professional Services and partners to build and deliver engagement proposals.
Platform, Product & Engineering Engagement
- Navigate product and data engineering teams to support new product innovations, private previews, and upgrade needs.
- Drive adoption of modern data platform and Lakehouse architectures and address organic optimisation needs including cloud cost control, tuning and performance optimisation.
Governance, Reporting & Value Management
- Develop and run executive and operational governance across delivery programmes.
- Provide internal and external critical metric reporting on:
- Customer health and usage
- Investment status
- Key risks and dependencies
- Product adoption
- Use‑case progression
- Translate technical delivery into measurable business outcomes and value.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in IT delivery management and 5 years’ experience delivering Data and/or AI solutions at enterprise scale.
- Shown accountability for sophisticated Data & AI programmes in high‑scale, distributed environments.
- Experience in customer‑facing roles such as delivery management, consulting, architecture, pre‑sales or customer success.
- Proven experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams across onshore, nearshore and offshore locations and proven track record of over‑achievement against delivery, commercial or growth targets.
Technical Skills
- Strong data platform proficiency, including:
- Databricks (delivery and consumption context)
- Azure Data Hub (ADH) or equivalent enterprise data platforms
- Distributed data systems and architectures
- SAP suite of products- BDC and SAC and Programming experience in Python, SQL and/or Scala.
- Shown understanding of data engineering, AI/ML pipelines and cloud data platforms.
- Ability to give to technical build discussions and architecture decisions with customers.
Delivery & Leadership Skills
- Strong programme and project management capability, including:
- Agile and hybrid delivery models
- Commercial models (T&M, Fixed Price, Fixed Capacity)
- Resource planning, forecasting, risk and dependency management
- Experience delivering multi‑practice engagements (platform, security, testing, managed services).
- Shown people leadership capability, including mentoring and developing delivery leaders.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience desirable but not required.
