Role synopsis
A System Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and operation of systems. They support systems, resolve issues, and research ways to improve system performance through automation and improved processes. Works closely with their peers to support systems, resolve problems, and research ways to improve bp’s systems through mentoring, analytics, research and development and service. A systems administrator will be responsible for leading project activities across their relevant areas.
Key accountabilities
- Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain and configure systems with minimal instruction
Performs analytics to resolve issues and creates preventive solutions with minimal instruction
Builds automation to improve system performance and health
Proactively identifies ways to enhance system performance and stability with minimal instruction
Creates system deployment plans and processes as directed
Participate in research and develop of projects as directed
Understands and implement system policies and security controls on an ongoing basis
Coordinates meetings with internal and external customers to resolve issues
Requires minimal instruction and editing to build documentation
Review and submit expenses and timecards accurately with accepted company practices and procedures
Complete security and other training requirements per company practices and policies at TA
Work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities depending on business needs.
Availability to Support (24x7) environment
Responsible for maintaining administrative, technical, and physical security controls on all systems that are owned or maintained by this role.
Responsible for preserving the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data that is stored, processed, or transmitted on systems that are owned or maintained by this role.
Responsible for following all policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines of the company, including those related to data security
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology or related discipline
System Administrator, or equivalent, role - 5+ years
Phone based service experience - 5+ years
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Visio skills are required - 5+ years
Experience with standard template documentation - 5+ years
Experience supporting remote systems - 5+ years
This role will be required to work in shifts

Experience with in intermediate level support troubleshooting (Networking, computer hardware, Windows OS) - 5+ years
Experience with POS systems (hardware, software, peripherals) - 5+ years
Knowledge in supporting POS equipment and peripheral devices - 5+ years
Working with retail store, fuel, or restaurant systems - 5+ years
Experience with SDLC - 3+ years
Experience with software distribution / scripting / best practices (ie. PowerShell, .NET,...) - 5+ years
Experience with version control (ie. SVN, Bit Bucket, TFS, GIT, …..) - 3+ years
Experience with relational database systems (ie. SQL, Oracle, ….) - 3+ years
Experience with remote PC support (ie. Bomgar, Remote Desktop, VNC, ….) - 5+ years
Experience with production and project issue tracking (ie. Service Now, Jira, ….) - 5+ years
Experience with business systems (ie. SAP) - 2+ years
Knowledge of cloud solutions (ie. Azure, AWS, …)
Work with windows admin and security teams to deploy all security patches and tools to labs and production per supervised instruction
Review networking, hardware and software requirements from Vendors and provide technical recommendations and guidance on implementations with supervised guidance
Responsible to understand and participate in network design, documentation and delivery of POS Store and Fuel Desk projects.
Responsible to review, support and provide recommendations for new implementations (acquisitions, new franchise and construction projects)
To minimize financial and product loss by ensuring proper functionality of POS Store and Fuel systems by responding to defects reported by the sites.
Become proficient with security and other software tools necessary to support sites
Responsible for administration and analysis of processor research and reporting
Responsible for processor specification maintenance and management of vendor required updates
Responsible for management of the documentation and operational understanding of transaction flow and processor connections
Responsible for regular and escalated reports and communication with internal and external processor related to research and discussions
Responsible for maintaining & documenting processor connections, specifications and flows
Responsible for supporting new business tasks/processes for new processors, new cards and/or new transaction flows
