Job Summary
This role leads a high performing commercial sales team responsible for originating, negotiating, and completing electricity Sales and Purchase Agreements across the Eastern United States. The leader will drive regional commercial strategy, deliver near-term sales and margin targets, and advance bp’s broader low carbon and power commercial ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement the Eastern U.S. regional sales strategy in partnership with senior leadership.
- Identify opportunities in Eastern markets, emerging customer segments, new energy products, and evolving channels.
- Regularly communicate commercial performance, market intelligence, and opportunities with senior bp collaborators.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a regional commercial team to achieve sales, gross margin, and strategic goals.
- Foster a team culture reflecting bp’s Who We Are values—prioritizing safety, accountability, collaboration, and customer focus.
- Provide clear direction while empowering teams to act with autonomy and commercial discipline.
Origination & Commercial Execution
- Originate, structure, negotiate, and execute electricity transactions across the Eastern U.S.
- Cultivate customer and channel relationships that maximize long-term value and retention.
- Work with bp’s cross functional teams (trading, legal, risk, operations, analytics) to optimize deal quality and customer experience.
Cross Functional & Organizational Collaboration
- Collaborate across bp’s integrated North American power and gas sales organization to unlock bundled product value.
- Find opportunities to strengthen contracting, systems, processes, and best practices across the commercial value chain.
Experience & Technical Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, economics, or related field.
- 15+ years of progressively responsible commercial energy experience, including leading sales organizations preferred.
- Demonstrated success driving commercial strategy, closing complex structured transactions, and managing P&L results.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts to broad audiences.
- High accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical capability.
- Ability to travel as needed.

How much do we pay (Base)? ($165,000 - $250,000)
