About the role

The MAX Manager (Global Manufacturing Excellence Manager) provides global manufacturing expertise to optimize the design and operations efficiency of the Global Supply Chain plant network. The incumbent develops manufacturing excellence program (MAX) standards, processes, and capability to drive standardization, guideline sharing/adoption and continuous improvement based on loss analysis methodology and culture. The job holder acts as the primarily global contact for all manufacturing related questions and an interface between plants and leadership and can provide guidance and remote & on the floor coaching for plants teams. Establishes a coaching relationship to MAX/CI-roles in plants and regions. Supports global engineering with standards for Early Equipment Management (EEM) pillar as a part of MAX program.

What you will deliver:

  • Leading the operating standards of the Castrol plants with focus on the 9 advantaged plants to deliver externally benchmarked competitiveness and multi-year masterplan for improvement translated into the main KPIs CPL, OCC, OEE, Yield, Energy intensity and MAX assessment score 6 pillars of success. You will lead the important metric manual and provide revisions or improvements to benchmark definitions as needed to drive better performance with effective governance.

  • You will deliver a KPI to measure the progress of masterplan and orchestrate the governance process and yearly master plan refresh.

  • You will create a comprehensive program of manufacturing excellence including giving guidance on launching foundations (Organization, Training, Leadership) and pillars (AM/PM/FI/HSSE/Quality/EEM/E2ESC/Admin) necessary for driving key improvement across KPIs. You will create also checklist for assessment across sites for maturity and will be doing site visits and audits to quality entry to next phase.

  • The incumbent is responsible for accomplishing of the external manufacturing benchmarking study PIMS and related communication and action plans. Organize and complete quarterly performance reviews with all PUs

  • Establish a global reporting system, performance management system and provide visibility for senior leadership and the Manufacturing community with clear guidelines and templates.

  • Based on a guideline sharing system establish a systematic reapplication/adoption and sharing culture. Work with Engineering to improve Equipment and process standardization.

  • Strengthen the loss mentality within the manufacturing community and provides support to grow MAX/CI capabilities in plants.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Manage by influence, lack direct control for project execution.

  • Supporting proper application of MAX action planning and masterplans.

  • At least 8 years broad manufacturing experience and consistent track record of working in a leading function in an CI/Lean environment. Ability to create consensus of MAX program from a diverse range of customers through demonstrating value to the others with effective storytelling ability.

Preferable:

Launching a CI program in a structured framework at a plant and driving it to atleast phase 2 (reaching AM step 4, PM step 3) would be a bonus. Additionally leading any cluster/multi-site CI program will be an additional bonus

Working experience outside of India preferably in at least Asia or Europe/USA

  • Successful Track Record of managing a Lean/CI/ManEx program ideally in a FMCG type of environment

  • The ability to work across numerous cultures.

You will work with

Reports to the Global Manufacturing and Engineering Manager. Key customers include Performance Unit Supply Chain Director & Manufacturing Managers, Plant Managers and Local CI Managers the assets. Effective leadership and influencing skills to deliver the accountabilities in this role while operating through a zone of influence through a network. Uses a wide range & depth of technical or specialized knowledge and provides technical leadership & expert advice to others. Provides technical coaching / professional guidance and assists in the development of others.
