Job Description:
As HSE Manager, you will lead a team of HSE Advisors to promote a robust safety culture and ensure safe, reliable, and risk-controlled operations across MC&M ANZ.
This role is a member of the MC&M ANZ Customer leadership team (also assisting the Retail Leadership Teams), supporting the business to manage risk and performance, and developing a healthy and safe workplace.
What you will deliver
Lead a team of HSE Advisors, supporting the ANZ MC&M business to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
Design and implementation of innovative initiatives as part of the ANZ HSE strategy.
Enhance operational HSE capability through coaching on safety culture, risk, incident response, and change coordination.
Advise Operations with HSE expertise and connect them to relevant SME support.
Influence leaders to implement risk mitigation strategies and drive improvements in HSE performance.
Develop robust documented processes, training and systems to support safe, reliable and regulatory-aligned operations.
Support the business in incident response, investigation, corrective action and classification.
Ensure compliance with H&S legislation and liaise with regulators as required.
Analyze HSE data and performance, identify trends and recommend improvement actions.
Evaluate conformance with the Operating Management System and assess barrier health through operational and system verification and corrective action plans.
Assist the business with self-insurance and workers' compensation obligations, including audits and return to work support.
As a Senior SME, you will seek out mentoring and coaching opportunities to build safety leadership capability across the business, as well as the HSE advisors.
You are responsible for adhering to policies and procedures relating to safety, code of conduct, cyber, ethics and compliance. You will consistently exemplify bp’s 'who we are' values along with the Safety Leadership Principles.
What you will need to be successful in the role
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant qualifications aligned to HSE, engineering, operations, or related field.
Extensive HSE experience (ideally with a Retail, Operational and/or distributed business).
Deep and proven experience within a large organization with a significant HSE risk profile.
Significant experience in partnering and advising business leaders on HSE issues.
Proven experience in leading a diverse team across a large geographic region.
Ability to coach and train others effectively.
Demonstrated experience working in a complex, matrix organization.
A sound knowledge of relevant workplace legislation and regulations.
Advanced knowledge and experience in incident investigation procedures.
