The Finance Group in ST&S is a key financial & risk control function, accountable for ensuring that trading activities are conducted within a robust control framework. This role interfaces with commercial (trading and origination) and supporting functions for refining products in Brazil, particularly distillates activity, and requires balancing independence with a business enabling partnership.

Reporting to the Financial Reporting & Control Lead, this role shall provide support on existing activity for refining products, particularly focused on the distillates activity (diesel, biodiesel, jet, others). This role is responsible for the Accounting, Reporting & Control (ARC) and Settlements activity in-country, including oversight on local outsourcing service provider, working in partnership with Regional ARC and Settlements functions in Chicago and Budapest. This role is also the ST&S Finance SPA for linkage with Treasury, Tax and Finance functions in country and Chicago/Budapest to understand end to end processes and risks/impacts in processes & controls for new ST&S activity in Brazil. This role will also lead efforts on system’s implementations as well as overall continuous improvement agenda for distillates activity in Brazil.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Execute all aspects of the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process with respect to accounting and settlements for Refining Products, particularly distillates activity in Brazil, also coordinating efforts with the outsourcing provider for accounting, tax and settlements services.
  • Maintain effective and efficient financial controls and processes across all areas of the business, including SOX controls and quarterly reports for distillates activity.
  • Prepare cash flow forecast to understand cash needs and ensure requests for funding are made on a timely basis, interacting directly with local Treasury and Chicago/Budapest teams.
  • SPA within business for linkage with other functions (e.g., Treasury, Commodity Risk, Tax) to ensure the accuracy/integrity of financial reporting and controls as well as support new ST&S activity focused on distillates.
  • Act as key focal point for new processes & controls as well as system’s implementation and overall continuous improvement agenda to support business growth, particularly focused on distillates activity.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economy or related fields
  • MBA in Accounting and /or Finance is a plus

EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Seasoned professional with finance and business experience in multi-national companies
  • Mandatory experience in an energy trading environment
  • IFRS and statutory accounting and direct/indirect tax knowledge
  • Strong analytical skills focus on details
  • Proactive and independent attitude
  • Ability to interpret and communicate financial information with clarity, considering country nuances
  • Self-starter and great teammate with a relentless drive and continuous improvement approach
  • Self-motivated with intellectual ability and curiosity to learn new businesses
  • Ability to multi-task independently in a dynamic and changing business environment, within the global structure and ensuring effective processes and procedures
  • Proficient in English
