About the role
The Senior Credit and Trade Loan Analyst is accountable for performing high amount and sophisticated trade loan proposals, and credit reviews to support strategic business decision, by calculating and evaluating Trade Loans, preparing and submitting proposals for authorization, evaluating trade finance performance, and supporting the commercial evaluation. Accountable to perform credit activities for the designated customers portfolio to ensure trade debtor balances are tightly controlled and credit risk appraisal of new and existing customers is carried out adhering to the Credit Policy. The job holder should have a deep understanding of Castrol Credit Policy & Trade Loan policies and of the relevant systems and tools and manage/balance diverse demands from Senior Stakeholders within multiple countries. Has a strong influence to enable business to reach their strategic goals in trade investments. Acts as Subject Matter Expert to other CLTs in the area of Credit Risk and Trade Loan. Coach and develop members of the team from the technical and soft skills point of view and support the coordination of the team activities. In addition to these tasks, the Senior Credit and Trade Loan Analyst holds responsibility on owning the team on daily operations and has to support the line manager regarding report, projects, strategy.

Credit Assessment & Trade Loan Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and ad-hoc credit assessments and trade loan evaluations in line with relevant credit policies and financial guidelines.
- Perform customer due diligence to understand financial health, business outlook, and commercial potential.
- Collaborate closely with Sales to collect financial documents and ensure timely credit evaluations.
- Prepare, validate, and submit trade loan proposals for approval, ensuring compliance with financial requirements (e.g., IRR, credit risk, DoA).
- Prepare high-quality Credit Assessments, Authority to Negotiate (ATN) documents, and Financial Memorandums with proper documentation.
- Ensure accurate setup and maintenance of credit and trade loan data in ERP and related systems.
- Develop practical solutions to challenges in credit risk evaluation, trade loan performance, and portfolio management.
- Improve deal structures and approaches to better meet customer expectations while protecting financial performance.
- Define security requirements, coordinate with Sales, and verify customer/bank details related to guarantees.
- Make decisions on customer delivery blocks/unblocks where required.
- Supervise customer portfolios and take proactive steps to minimize bad debt risk.
- Lead cross-functional discussions to balance risk exposure with profitable returns.
- Stay closely connected with business developments, market trends, and customer needs.
- Act as first partner concern point for sophisticated credit or trade loan cases.
- Ensure quality control of credit documentation before issue.
Trade Loan & Credit Exposure Management
- Identify strategic or high-risk trade investments and coordinate mitigation actions with partners.
- Supervise actual performance versus targets (volume, gross margin) and ensure contractual compliance.
- Supervise credit exposure against limits and key KPIs.
- Take ownership of assigned trade loan and credit portfolios, contributing to commercial decision-making with senior partners.
- Prepare forecasts for upcoming trade loan payouts for management visibility.
Business Partnership
- Maintain close collaboration with Sales through regular trade loan and credit review meetings.
- Act as a business partner balancing risk management with commercial growth.
- Resolve internal and external credit-related queries and issues.
Reporting & Analysis
- Deliver regular and ad-hoc reporting accurately and on time.
- Reconcile trade loan accounts and explain P&L impacts.
- Provide inputs for monthly Trade Loan Power BI reporting.
- Prepare quarterly impairment calculations at regional level.
- Produce management information (MI) to support decision-making and internal controls.
Leadership & Team Support
- Provide daily guidance to Trade Loan and Credit Analysts as a first point of contact.
- Support leadership on projects, system implementations, and critical initiatives.
- Coach team members to build expertise and capabilities.
- Foster a positive, collaborative team environment aligned with things we value.
Stakeholder & Process Management
- Serve as key contact for finance and business leaders on credit assessments and trade loan proposals.
- Ensure compliance with credit policies and relevant management systems.
- Identify process risks and drive mitigation actions.
- Continuously seek improvement in execution opportunities and support implementation.
- Support system enhancements and incident resolution across tools such as SAP and Trade Loan platforms.
- Contribute expertise to transitions, system changes, and strategic projects.
What You will need to be successful
- University Degree or equivalent experience preferred (in Economics or related fields) or other Graduation in Economics
- Broad credit analysis knowledge
- Credit Management, experience in an international environment
- Credit management background gained in banking, financial services, or a blue-chip corporate credit environment
- Able to deal with sophisticated situations while maintaining the right balance of customer and business focus to drive performance improvements
- Assimilate data to identify key issues and aid decision making
- Able to produce consistently high-quality information within tight deadlines.
- Strong systematic and analytical skills coupled with project management
- Looks for ways to do things better, faster and more efficiently
- High understanding of the business requirements and strategy
- Capability to mentor and support junior colleagues and further develop Team capability
