Job Description:

Play a key role in shaping bp’s southern region portfolio across WA, SA, VIC and TAS.

As our Construction Lead, you will be accountable for the end‑to‑end safe and timely delivery of capital and expense projects, ensuring alignment with the Australian integrated network strategy, market plans, and our CapEx/RevEx budget and investment commitments.

In this pivotal role, you will lead, guide and develop a high‑performing team of project practitioners, technical specialists and third‑party delivery partners. You’ll oversee the full lifecycle delivery of asset programs and projects, ensuring all work meets bp and regulatory requirements, with an uncompromised focus on safety, operational risk management and operational excellence.

Key Accountabilities:

Reporting to the ANZ Construction Manager, this role will:

  • Be accountable for regional project delivery execution and performance, with decision rights aligned to approved strategy and CapEx/RevEx/HR DoA.

  • Lead end‑to‑end safe and timely delivery of capital and expense projects in line with the integrated network plan, capital and revenue budget, and commercial expectations.

  • Develop front‑end‑loading and project execution plans that follow rigorous project management and control principles and approvals.

  • Oversee monitoring and reporting of project time, cost, quality and safety metrics in accordance with bp and regulatory requirements and budget constraints.

Success Indicators

  • Own Safety and Operational Risk management, applying OMS (2.5, 5.1 & 5.2) and acting as the local Contract Owner.

  • Provide strong safety leadership and ensure compliance with all safety, cyber, ethics and compliance requirements.

  • Lead the regional interface to execute the network strategy, initiate projects in Nostra, and manage key project control elements (Safety, Cost, Schedule, Quality, Risk, Information Management).

  • Maintain the project pipeline for WA/SA/VIC/TAS, assess financial & operational benefits, and recommend investment opportunities.

  • Drive predictable delivery through engineering assurance, contractor performance management and robust governance.

  • Develop and execute front‑end‑loading and project execution plans, securing approvals and meeting bp technical standards.

  • Lead and develop a team of project specialists, engineers and outsourced providers to deliver the ANZ project pipeline.

Experience and Skills we are looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering or Construction Management.

  • Strong knowledge of engineering, safety & operational risk management, project delivery, and CapEx/RevEx budget management.

  • Proven leadership, communication and influencing capability; advanced risk analysis, mitigation and contingency planning skills.

  • Relevant experience delivering $250K–$10M+ projects (greenfield/brownfield); retail or fuel industry experience advantageous.

  • Proficient in MS Office and project management software; strong commercial acumen, problem‑solving ability, and willingness to travel up to 20%.
