Job Description:

The Senior Inspector is responsible for inspections of unit assigned pressure vessels, piping, heaters, boilers, tanks and PSV's at the Cherry Point Refinery. In addition, the Senior Inspector will serve as the Authorized In-Service Inspector on repairs and alterations of boilers and pressure vessels in accordance with BP Recommended Practices and Standards, National Codes and Standards, and State Jurisdiction requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Serve as the authorized In-Service inspector per National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) of fixed equipment in assigned areas of responsibility and assure timeliness of all required inspection and testing activities.

  • Determine non destructive testing (NDT) requirements for equipment and review reports for accuracy.

  • Develop Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and perform quality assurance (QA) surveillance for fabrication efforts at various vendor facilities.

  • Work with Engineering and Maintenance to develop and approve repairs and alterations of fixed equipment.

  • Develop fixed equipment inspection scope and coordinate inspection activities for turnarounds.

  • Maintain accurate inspection data and records in Meridium. Regularly review data and forecast overdue inspection and repair dates in Meridium APM.

  • Apply Risk Based Inspection (RBI) principals to inspection scope including inspection intervals, grading and risk forecasting.

  • Ensure compliance with PSV inspection and testing criteria per NBIC.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent, is required.

  • Ability to obtain a National Board In-Service Commission with repair/alteration endorsement and a WA State Commission within 2 years of employment.

  • Proven inspection experience in a refinery or chemical plant.

  • Knowledge of refinery facility corrosion mechanisms.

  • Working knowledge of basic NDT techniques, including UT thickness, RT, MT, PT, & Infrared to ensure appropriate NDT techniques are utilized.

  • Working knowledge of Procedure Qualification Records (PQR’s), Welding Procedure Specification (WPS’s) and Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ’s) to ensure compliance with ASME Sect IX.

  • Able to work with others in a team environment.

  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Have or be working towards obtaining certifications including:

  • API 510

  • API 570

  • API 580

  • API 653

  • CWI

  • ASNT Level II MT/PT/UT

  • NACE Basic Corrosion or equivalent experience

How much do we pay? The pay range for this position is $96,000 - $178,000

*Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
