About bp:

As a leading global energy company with a presence in over 61 countries, bp is dedicated to delivering energy to the world, today and tomorrow. Across the bp landscape, we’re home to a range of brands across many areas of our industry. For over 100 years, we’ve focused on discovering, developing and producing oil and gas in the nations where we operate. Delivering our strategy sustainably is fundamental to achieving our ambition to be a net zero company by 2050 or sooner. It's an exciting time to join bp. From wellbeing programs to mentorship and career growth opportunities, we aim to ensure you can thrive – in work and in life.

About the Early Talent Program:

Open to students studying in the US and due to graduate between December 2027 and June 2028, our early talent program is a fascinating introduction to the energy trading industry. It will support your undergraduate progress, while opening your eyes to the full range of opportunities that our business and sector offer. You’ll also gain skills and knowledge that’ll help you apply for one of our internships in the future.

Our early talent participants learn from some of the most hardworking professionals within Commodity Trading. You will gain exposure to our Finance, Risk Management, Marketing & Origination, Commercial, Trading, Analytics, and Supply Chain teams on our Houston or Chicago Trade Floors.

During our Early Talent Program, you’ll:

  • Learn about our Front and Middle Office functions within trading and discover career opportunities at BP across commodities including: oil, refined products, power, natural gas, LNG, and biofuels.
  • Gain real insights into life at bp: Interactive presentations, discussions with leaders, and the chance to meet employees currently in our early career programs.
  • Hear how our Supply, Trading, and Shipping teams navigate and deliver value in the global energy markets
  • Recruitment insights: Hear directly from the recruitment team about the application and interview process for bp’s summer internship and Graduate Development Programs.
  • Apply your knowledge in a practical setting.
  • Attend a trip to a bp office (4 days in June 2026) - must attend in-person to receive early access to our internship applications)
    • Houston Program Dates: June 1-4
    • Chicago Program Dates: June 8-11

*Please note there are separate applications for Houston and Chicago. You can only apply to one program at a time and are only required to participate in one location.

Application Process:

  • An online application form, where you can give us all the key information
  • A virtual Interview, which will link your experiences to our values
  • Applications for the program will close at midnight CST on March 15th, 2026.

Upon successfully completing the in-person program, participants will have the opportunity to submit early applications for the Supply, Trading & Shipping or Finance & Risk internship programs. Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the formal interview process.

Requirements and Eligibility:

To be eligible for the program, students must:

  • Be working toward Bachelor’s degree. We are open to all majors.
