Job Summary

As a Data Engineer at BP PLC, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining robust and scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. You will demonstrate your technical expertise to ensure the efficient flow of data, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Job Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and maintain secure and performant data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes using various data technologies.
* Implement and manage data models, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility for analytical purposes.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and software engineers, to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
* Develop and implement scripting solutions for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
* Contribute to the continuous deployment and release cycles of data solutions, adhering to agile core practices.
* Apply configuration management and source control standard processes to maintain version control and ensure code integrity.
* Participate in the design and implementation of system architectures, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security of data platforms.
* Monitor and troubleshoot data systems, ensuring optimal service operations and resilience.
* Facilitate technical discussions and knowledge sharing within the team to foster a high-performing and collaborative environment.
* Enforce to BP's information security policies and guidelines in all data engineering activities.

Job Qualifications

* Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, demonstrating expertise in data pipeline development and management.
* Strong understanding of Relational Data Modelling principles and experience with various database technologies.
* Proficiency in Scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for data manipulation and automation.
* Experience with Source control and code management tools (e.g., Git).
* Solid understanding of System Design and Solution Architecture principles for data platforms.
* Familiarity with Continuous deployment and release processes.
* Knowledge of Configuration management and related tools.
* Experience in Service operations and resilience for data systems.
* Demonstrated ability to apply Agility core practices in project execution.
* Excellent Collaboration and Communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
* Awareness of Digital Project Management methodologies.
* Understanding of Information Security standard processes in a data context.
* A strong dedication to Creating a high performing team environment through knowledge sharing and mentorship.
* Ability to Facilitate technical discussions and drive consensus.
