ST&S Operations Team

The supply, trading & shipping (ST&S) Operations team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of trading and shipping activities within our organization. We manage physical deal transactions after trader execution, ensuring all contractual obligations are met safely, compliantly, and in a commercially optimized manner. Our work spans logistics coordination, documentation, and operational processes to maximize commercial value.

Role Overview

As our Operations apprentice, you will be assigned to at least 2 rotations over 2 years to learn to collaborate across multiple teams and external partners to deliver operational excellence and support strategic initiatives, ensuring that every activity aligns with safety, compliance, and commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all operations activities adhere to HSSE standards and operating procedures.

• Work closely with bp Shipping to maintain compliance with Group Marine Policy.

• Partner with Finance teams to uphold trading processes and procedures.

• Plan and optimize cargo movements, ensuring efficient execution.

• Maintain timely and accurate records in relevant systems.

• Work with traders, originators, and marketers to implement new strategies and enhance existing ones.

• Manage ancillary invoice and payment processing for shipowners, service providers, and surveyors.

• Proactively manage and recover demurrage and oil loss costs.

• Build and strengthen relationships with terminals, shipping companies, surveyors, and marketing businesses.

• Provide insights to support analytics and traders’ understanding of market activity.

• Contribute to local and group initiatives that drive value improvement
  

Upon successful completion of the program, you may be offered a permanent role in the Operations team.

About the programme

This apprenticeship program is 2 years long, commencing in June 2026. During this time, you’ll work on different projects alongside learning day to day operations, to become a rounded professional.

Alongside your formal apprenticeship, you’ll also complete our Elevate training programme which provides a framework of ‘non-technical’ skills to support building personal effectiveness, helping you to grow both personally and professionally.

Throughout the program you’ll have a dedicated support network to provide guidance on the program and advice on career development. You’ll also be a key part of the bp early careers community, with events, socials and the opportunity to network with other early careers from across bp.

To be eligible for the ST&S Apprenticeship, you are:

• Currently pursuing a diploma and expecting to graduate by May 2026 or a diploma graduate in any discipline

• Available to start work in June 2026

• A Singapore citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident with the rights to work in Singapore
