Role

The Statutory Reporting Manager – Tax Compliance is responsible for partnering with Group Tax to design, build, and deliver bp’s BEPS Pillar 2 compliance engine, and for establishing the operating model, capabilities, controls and ensuring operational excellence in future business-as-usual activities for the entire bp group of entities (approx. 2,000 legal entities).

The role leads a geographically distributed team across key hubs, working in close alignment with statutory reporting functions under unified leadership to maximize operational alignments and resource efficiency. Through cross-functional engagement with tax, finance, IT, and business stakeholders, the Manager drives operational excellence, continuous improvement, and proactive stakeholder management, enabling bp to fulfill its global compliance obligations efficiently and effectively!

Key Results / Accountabilities

Design, Build & Operate Pillar Two Compliance Engine

  • Partner with Group Tax to implement the Pillar Two compliance engine

  • Define and document end-to-end data requirements, covering GloBE income, covered taxes, Top-Up Tax, and jurisdictional attributes.

  • Maintain a central data dictionary and metadata repository, ensuring data completeness, accuracy, and audit readiness.

Data Sourcing, Standardisation & Automation

  • Map data requirements to ERPs, group reporting, and tax systems; identify data owners, sources, and data flow paths.

  • Define rules for standardising and transforming data to ensure consistency across jurisdictions, entities, and systems.

  • Prioritise and enable a scalable, automated data layer, focusing on areas where automation delivers the greatest efficiency and control benefits.

  • Support integration of data into the Pillar Two compliance engine so calculations and reporting can be automated and reliable.

Stakeholder Management & Governance

  • Act as the liaison Tax, Finance, IT, and Data teams, facilitating workshops, validating solutions, and handling dependencies.

  • Establish data governance, quality standards, and documentation to ensure traceability, audit readiness, and smooth transition to FBT-owned BAU operations.

  • Lead a geographically distributed team across key hubs, aligned under unified leadership with statutory reporting hubs, to maximise operational synergies and resource efficiency.

Continuous Improvement & BAU Ownership

    • Serve as the single point of accountability for Pillar Two delivery within FBT - assume end-to-end operational ownership for Pillar Two compliance.

    • Drive continuous improvement, standardisation, and automation to reduce manual intervention.

    • Ensure delivery is timely, accurate, consistent, and audit-ready across all in-scope jurisdictions.

    Team Leadership & Capability Development

    • Allocate resources efficiently to meet service and cost objectives, set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance appraisals.

    • Mentor and coach team members to address process gaps, drive continuous improvement, and support long-term career growth.

    • Foster a culture of high performance, engagement, and learning by securing development opportunities and retaining key talent.

    Key Challenges

    Fragmented Data & System Landscape

    • Capturing, standardising, and automating over 200 data points per entity across 2,000+ legal entities with multiple ERPs and reporting systems is highly complex.

    • Ensuring audit-ready, consistent, and reliable data for non-safe-harbour jurisdictions is a key success factor and major challenge.

    Global Regulatory Complexity & Evolving Pillar Two Rules

    • As jurisdictions embrace Pillar Two at different times and with local deviations, maintaining consistent application while ensuring compliance is challenging.

    • The role must translate regulatory changes into operational processes without disrupting BAU delivery.

    Cross-Functional and Multi-Hub Coordination

    • Aligning Group Tax, statutory reporting hubs, finance, IT, and data teams across geographies and time zones requires strong leadership, communication, and dependency management.

    • Misalignment risks redundancy, inefficiency, or control gaps.

    Transitioning from Project Mode to Sustainable BAU

    Moving from an advisor-led, project-focused implementation to a FBT-owned, scalable, and automated BAU model requires capability building, process embedding, and cultural change.

    Driving Automation and Standardisation under Legacy Constraints

    • Implementing automated pipelines and standardised processes in a complex, partially legacy system landscape while ensuring cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency is challenging

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, accounting or recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CIMA or MIA).

    • Minimum of 15+ years of multinational corporate experience in tax/statutory accounting.

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading, developing and coaching teams.

    Preferred Criteria

    • Strong understanding of BEPS Pillar Two and GloBE rules.

    • Experience in data analysis, data modelling, and business process mapping.

    • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, JDE), tax compliance tools, and reporting platforms.

    • Proficiency in tools like Power BI, Alteryx, SQL, or Python for data analysis and automation.

    • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
