Job Description:

Purpose of the role

To carry out Electrical checks & inspection, testing and maintenance including repairs on Refuelling vehicles (Dispensers &Refuellers), mobile equipment and Airport Facilities(for which BP is responsible) in a safe, diligent and efficient manner.

To ensure all maintenance activities are performed and detailed in line with the Air BP Regulations, Task Breakdowns and local legislative requirements or taught by site management.

To deputize for the Maintenance Supervisor in his absence.

Primary accountabilities

To always act in a totally professional manner, performing all tasks safely, carefully, thoroughly and efficiently and exactly as trained.

To demonstrate a transparent dedication to HSSE and actively seek opportunities to prevent harm to self, colleagues, and the environment.

To continuously seek ways to improve levels of personal and company performance by optimising the use of equipment, facilities, new technology and training.

Perform maintenance tasks independently as determined by the preventative maintenance programme.

To perform repairs to vehicles and equipment independently as vital and as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor or on Defect Reports.

To perform tests to aviation equipment independent as per procedure or training.

To record or detail all maintenance activities in prescribed formats or applicable software like SAP.

To ensure that the Company’s HSSE and quality control procedures are strictly adhered to whilst repairing and maintaining vehicles and equipment.

To recommend the development of procedures or develop to improve efficiency, safety, reliability or serviceability of operational equipment.

To be one of Air BP’s authorised Permit to Work signatories capable of issuing work permits and ensuring safe workplace for others including 3rd parties carrying out construction, maintenance or repair works within the depot.

To ensure personal training is performed in a timely manner.

To actively support the Maintenance Supervisor in the delivery of his / her responsibilities.

Requirements

Engineering Diploma or Degree from a Technical Institute in Electrical/Electronics/ Automobile/Auto electrician.

Extensive experience in maintenance in an aviation refuelling company or OEM authorised service centre/in a major automotive maintenance garage.

Knowledge in Electric vehicles maintenance, use of vehicle diagnosis tool (OBD Scanner) and PLC systems will be an advantage.

Possessing a valid local UAE driving license.

Experience in all aspects of aviation equipment and vehicle operations and fully understand hydraulics, pneumatic, electrical and electronic systems and trouble shooting.

The post holder must have a detailed understanding of Air BP’s Regulations for Refuelling and Quality Control, and HSSE Standards, and local HSE Policies, Commitments and Expectations.

Fluent spoken and written English, good computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office and Outlook applications, be able to understand electrical wiring diagrams.

Must be strong on Air BP Proficiencies: Interpersonal Understanding, Personal Impact and Influence, Bias for Action, Decision Making and Judgement, Managing Time and Pressure, Teamwork, Leadership, Coaching and Development.

Demonstrating a very HSSE Minded.

Special Characteristics of activity:

Although this particular job is carried out all over the world for Air BP, the Middle East is outstanding, given the high temperatures (40 - 50 deg. C) which the person must work under for approximately half the year.

Despite the challenging environmental conditions, the candidate must maintain the high standards set out in the Air BP Regulations, in terms of HSSE, Operations, Quality and Customer Service.

The geographical location is such that a diverse mixture of cultures are employed at the airports, internally and externally. The candidate must possess the willingness and ability to work with a diverse group of people from different nationalities.

HSSE

The Maintenance Technician must be HSSE minded and work safely all times.

Acknowledge that Working Safely is a condition of Employment and conduct his activities in accordance with that.

Adhering to the Air BP Rules for maintenance technicians.

The Maintenance Technician must be fully conversant and align with all company and legal HSSE requirements which apply to his activities and is accountable for completing Compliance Tasks that have been assigned.

Reporting all unsafe acts and conditions and near misses to his / her supervisor.

Working within a team and therefore his actions and behaviours will impact on others.
