About the role

As a Civil Engineer Intern in the Integrity Management Team at bp Trinidad & Tobago, you will have the unique opportunity to support the safety, reliability, and longevity of our operating assets. Your internship will focus on integrity management responsibilities, including the inspection, evaluation, and maintenance planning for civil and structural infrastructure such as foundations, offshore platforms and onshore pipe support racks. You will play a vital role in ensuring our facilities meet bp’s rigorous standards for asset integrity and safe operation.

Accountabilities will vary depending on your specific project. Examples of possible activities include:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of inspection programs for civil and structural components, supporting the Integrity Management Team’s efforts to maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in the review and analysis of data collected from site inspections and integrity assessments, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Support the review and update of maintenance strategies for civil and structural infrastructure to extend asset life and reduce risk.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams, including engineering, operations, and maintenance, to ensure effective execution of integrity management activities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, recommendations, and presentations related to asset integrity findings and solutions.

Successful interns will be considered for a full-time role within our One Engineering Program upon earning their degree. The One Engineering Program at bp is a development program for Early career discipline engineers, in which they will build their experience through challenging development assignments, develop a toolkit of transferable skills for the future, and have a dedicated network of support to help them succeed.

Minimum Requirements for the civil engineer internship

  • Must be a citizen or legal resident of Trinidad and Tobago or CARICOM national
  • Working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, or closely related discipline
  • Currently in your penultimate year of study (pre-final year) with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be available to start on agreed upon June start date
