About the job:
The Shift Supervisor at BP Oil UK Ltd is responsible for coordinating daily
operations during their assigned shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant work practices while managing a team and maintaining operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
* Lead and supervise a team of operational staff during designated shifts, encouraging a culture of safety and high performance.
* Conduct HSSE auditing and self-verification activities to ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies.
* Coordinate and participate in incident investigation and learning processes, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
* Apply industry knowledge and advocacy to optimize operational procedures and drive continuous improvement.
* Influence team members and partners to adopt standards and achieve
operational goals.
* Handle change processes optimally, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to operations.
* Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulatory compliance requirements and company standards.
* Supply to resource and budget planning for shift operations, optimizing
prioritisation.
* Implement and supervise robust risk management strategies to mitigate operational hazards.
* Demonstrate strong safety leadership, promoting a proactive safety culture and intervening where vital.
* Supply to crafting strategy and strategic planning initiatives relevant to shift operations.
* Engage in effective customer management, collaborating closely with internal departments and external partners.
* Apply critical thinking to solve complex operational challenges and anticipate future needs.
* Effectively lead and coordinate work performed by working with contractors, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Job Qualifications
* Shown experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a complicated operational environment, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
* Shown ability in Decision Making under pressure, with a track record of good judgment.
* Strong understanding and practical experience in HSSE auditing and self-verification.
* Proficient in incident investigation and learning methodologies.
* In-depth industry knowledge and advocacy within the oil and gas sector.
* Excellent influencing and communication skills, with the ability to empower and lead a team.
* Experience in the management of change processes.
* Detailed knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements relevant to the oil and gas industry.
* Practical experience in resource and budget planning.
* Confirmed expertise in risk management principles and application.
* Demonstrated Safety Leadership, with a commitment to fostering a strong safety culture.
* Ability to contribute to shaping strategy and strategic planning discussions.
* Strong partner management skills, with the ability to form effective
relationships.
* Strategic thinking capabilities to address complex operational issues.
* Experience in effectively working with contractors and managing their performance.
