At bp, we work hand in hand with our partners to shape the future of energy. Through the Enhanced Technical Service Agreement (ETSA) with the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), we are proud to support one of the world’s most significant energy projects — the Greater Burgan Field (now known as South & East Kuwait), the second largest global oil field, currently producing around 1.5 million barrels of oil and nearly 3 million barrels of effluent water per day. The ETSA contract was recently extended until mid-2029. Together, we aim to sustain and enhance production that supports Kuwait’s long-term strategic goals.

What the Role Involves

The Strategy & Planning Lead plays a key role in coordinating business inputs across all entities and stakeholders S&EK, scoping work plans, and providing assurance and economic assessment on all planned activities. Working closely with bp and KOC teams, this position drives long-term asset-level planning, forecasting, and performance optimization across disciplines. Integration and stakeholder management with KOC’s Projects, Operations, Technology, Base Management and Reservoir Management teams is essential.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Leading collaboration with KOC’s Forecasting and Strategic Planning Units to deliver insights and analysis for in-year plans, strategic updates, and long-term forecasts.
  • Conducting economic evaluations and capital efficiency assessments to support investment decisions.
  • Integrating development and operational plans across multiple teams to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies through integrated planning.
  • Preparing and communicating production profiles and strategic insights to senior management.
  • Leading benchmarking and performance reviews to see opportunities for improvement.
  • Providing coaching and knowledge sharing to KOC staff on planning and economic evaluation practices.

What We Look For

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or financial field.
  • Minimum 5 years working continuously with BP required. 5–10 years of experience within bp or similar organizations, ideally in subsurface planning or forecasting.
  • Experience in non-operating environments (NOJV, OBO, or secondment roles) is a strong advantage. A calm and patient personality with the ability to work in a complex organisation with a multi-cultural team will be essential.
  • Validated analytical and communication skills, with confidence in engaging executive partners.
  • Track record as a self-starter, able to deliver strategic insights under with limited supervision.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and culturally aware professional with the ability to quickly respond to changing business schedules while maintaining long-term priorities
