Job Summary
As a Gantry Operator at BP Southern Africa, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of gantry equipment to load and unload petroleum products, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and operational procedures.

Job Responsibilities
* Operate gantry loading/unloading equipment for various petroleum products according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
* Execute **Control of Work** protocols diligently, including permit-to-work systems, to ensure all operations are conducted safely.
* Apply **Cost-conscious decision-making** to minimize waste and optimize operational efficiency during loading and unloading processes.
* Perform basic **Maintenance general** tasks, including routine checks and minor troubleshooting of gantry equipment, and report any significant faults or defects.
* Adhere strictly to all company **Procedures and practices** related to gantry operations, product handling, and safety regulations.
* Contribute to the overall **Reliability general** of terminal operations by ensuring equipment is operated correctly and maintained effectively.
* Identify and assess potential hazards, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies as part of comprehensive **Risk Management**.
* Demonstrate strong **Safety Leadership** by promoting a safety-first culture among colleagues and actively participating in safety initiatives.
* Support **Turnaround general** activities by assisting with preparation, execution, and post-turnaround tasks as required, ensuring smooth and efficient transitions.

Job Qualifications
* Proven experience operating gantry equipment in a petroleum or chemical terminal environment.
* Demonstrated understanding and application of **Control of Work** principles.
* Ability to make **Cost-conscious decisions** in an operational setting.
* Basic knowledge of **Maintenance general** practices for industrial equipment.
* Strong adherence to operational **Procedures and practices**.
* Commitment to ensuring operational **Reliability general**.
* Proficiency in **Risk Management** techniques and hazard identification.
* Exemplary **Safety Leadership** skills and a proactive approach to safety.
* Familiarity with **Turnaround general** processes is desirable.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
