This is a high-impact global leadership role at the heart of bp’s commercial strategy. You will shape and deliver bp’s coke strategy worldwide, leading a dynamic team that drives sales, distribution, and optimization of coke sourced from bp’s refineries and strategic third-party partners. Your work will directly influence the profitability and competitiveness of bp’s global refining portfolio.
In this role, you will:
Lead bp’s global coke organization, setting strategic direction and ensuring flawless execution across multiple markets.
Drive commercial success by managing sales of coke produced at bp’s European and U.S. refineries, while optimizing purchases from third parties in regions such as South America, Europe, and the Middle East.
Oversee critical logistics and operations, including contracting third-party terminal and calcining services in Europe, the U.S., the Middle East, and Africa.
Engage with a diverse global customer base, spanning nearly every region worldwide, to build strong partnerships and deliver value.
You will lead a team of 22 professionals located in Spain, Germany, and the United States, with seven direct reports, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and performance. Internally, this team operates within the Refining Supply and Specialties Sales – Europe organization in ST&S Refinery Supply & Midstream, maintaining vital interfaces with P&O Refining and ST&S Refined Products Trading.
This is an opportunity to make a measurable impact on bp’s global supply chain and commercial performance, while developing talent and shaping the future of our coke and sulphur business.
Your new area of responsibility - challenging and future-oriented
P&L accountability for bp’s global coke and sulphur businesses.
Define and implement coke and sulphur business strategy, including business development.
Lead all global coke and sulphur business activities, including HSSE, strategic customer relationship management, commercial delivery, and strategy development.
Drive sales and distribution of sulphur, fuel grade, anode grade, and calcined coke.
Lead integrated optimization with Refined Products Trading (ST&S RPT) and the Refinery Optimization Managers (ROMs) at our refineries.
Develop long-term customer value propositions and deliver competitive results.
Manage and deliver third-party agreements (e.g., supply, terminal throughput, and toll calcining).
Accountable for the safe operation of the Huntington Beach coke lab in service of providing world class technical services to our customers and refineries.
Protect and promote bp’s global coke brand.
Your qualification profile - profound and passionate
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Legal, Finance, Engineering)
Minimum 15 years of relevant sales and negotiation experience in a multicultural environment, including 5+ years in leadership roles.
A strong commitment to Ethics and Compliance
Fluent in English. German and/or Spanish valued.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and influence across cultures.
High self-motivation, resilience under pressure, and strong digital capabilities.
Knowledge of refining and production processes and/or customer manufacturing (i.e. aluminum smelting processes) helpful but not required.
