Job Description:
The Contract Advisory Senior Analyst is responsible as an individual contributor for supporting the delivery of high-quality contracts by S&C practitioners in support of various bp businesses, globally.
The ideal candidate has practical and application experience in contracting of goods & services in the energy sector, extensive knowledge and understanding of contracts and legal terms, coupled with a strong commercial orientation and communication skills.
As bp is driving digital transformation, the Contract Advisory Senior Analyst will also be responsible to support digital projects relevant to the contracting space.
The key accountability for the Contract Advisory Senior Analyst is to ensure high quality contracting outcomes are delivered within the Contract Lifecycle Management processes:
1. Providing Contracting Guidance and Support
- Advise on the Contracting Processes, Procedures, Governance and Compliance.
- Support in selecting a suitable contract template based on the respective Scope of Work and in alignment with Contracting Policies and Procedures.
- General advice, including support on the meaning of legal clauses, its application and evaluation of contractual risk.
- Support negotiations efforts (most of effort is in this area).
2. Review of Documentation and Contract Assurance
- Review Pre and Post Award Contract Documents - Request for Proposals (RFP) Packages, Tenderer Deviations/Exceptions, Finalised Contracts including Supplier Paper, Letters and Notices, and Contract Amendments/Variations/Claims in accordance with Contracting Governance Framework.
- Review Other Documentation – Review Joint Investment Projects (JIP), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA), etc.
- Where required, support obtaining legal/SME/management approval for contract deviations.
3. General
- Supports the objective of no compromise on safe and compliant operations, including Operating Management System (OMS) related standards.
- Supports compliance to BP policies such as risk management, delegation of financial authority (DOFA) and functional guidelines.
- Find opportunities and drive continuous improvements within the contracting field.
- Prepare reports as requested and present to stakeholders where necessary.
This role works with a range of S&C teams within the different businesses and engages with Procurement, legal and other SMEs as necessary.
Key Requirement
a. Educational background
- University degree in legal.
- MCIPS/ISM qualification, or at stage of pre-qualification, desirable.
b. Experience
- More than 4 years working experience in Contracting and Procurement in the Energy sector.
- Able to work in UK shift (1pm to 10pm)
- Extensive knowledge and practical application experience in contract drafting, negotiations, contract assurance and review and contract management.
- Experienced working with virtual teams.
c. Other
- Fluent in English.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate Influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Intermediate Organisational and strong project management skills.
- Role will require occasional hours outside of standard business hours – to join calls with overseas team members.
- Contractually and commercially risk adverse.
