Job Description:

The ST&S Senior Business Security Manager is a key member of the Trading & Shipping (T&S) Global Security Team and plays a crucial role to help the ST&S business manage operational security risks of the Operated Fleet and the wider T&S business. Equipped with a strong awareness of the global security environment the role holder will develop, maintain and implement security plans and policies to safeguard the staff and assets of the ST&S businesses.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for the delivery of ST&S security risk management program

  • Act as BP Shipping’s Business Security Manager as defined by BP Group Guide, 3.5-0001 Security.

  • Accountable for ensuring BPS compliance with the International Ship & Port Security (ISPS) Code.

  • Act as the Company Security Officer as defined by the ISPS Code

  • Accountable for driving global maritime security situational awareness of the ST&S leadership and relationships with industry & government partners. Operational leadership of the ST&S Global Security Team

  • Provide maritime security advice to other bp Group businesses when requested

  • Liaise with Ethics & Compliance Officer in ensuring compliance with Group and legal requirements.

Skills and Experience

  • Significant experience in a senior deck officer position on oil, gas or chemical tankers or the equivalent in the naval armed forces or senior appointments in the maritime security industry with senior management experience

  • Proven senior operational leadership experience managing global teams

  • Proven abilities in building & sustaining partnership relationships with industry, government & military agencies

  • Deep understanding of the global maritime security situation.

  • Proven influencing and communication skills across organisation levels & externally with industry & government partners

  • Practical experience in applying crisis management skills in actual responses.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Deep understanding of the ISPS Code.
