You will play a pivotal role, taking full ownership of the commercial finance performance management for the NWE Africa business. You will ensure accurate information is provided to all relevant parties and embed a performance management culture with business partners. This role is responsible for 25% of the Castrol Africa business, including legal entity management and relationships with ExCo and Board. You’ll also have the opportunity to lead and develop your own team, taking on people management responsibilities with direct reports.
In this role you will:
Be responsible for the commercial finance activity for the NWE Africa business, driving performance interventions to ensure delivery of the in-year and 5-year plan (full trial balance accountability).
With support from the Senior Finance Manager for Africa, and in conjunction with Business Partners, develop ongoing business planning, forecasting, and budgeting (including actual vs. plan analysis, commentaries, and bridges).
Manage external relationships to operate the legal entity, including but not limited to auditors, banks, company registrar, lawyers, board members, and other regulatory bodies.
Produce quality Management Information (MI) in a consistent and fit-for-purpose format.
Compile and consolidate quarterly and annual bottom-up GFO and business plans for submission and loading into SAP.
Manage monthly performance reporting of Castrol KPIs (including non-financial measures) and financial results to meet local and segment deadlines.
Provide detailed variance analysis and insights on actual results in the context of the commercial environment, making recommendations to business partners and sales teams for improvements.
Manage the performance improvement process for NWE Africa clusters.
Create increased awareness of, and alignment around, commercial performance opportunities, including supporting the business with financial evaluations.
Support the ongoing development of effective performance measurements.
Lead monthly performance review sessions and support the Africa Finance Manager in monthly clearance calls.
Manage rebates and any other models to support business growth.
Build and maintain close working relationships with business partners, the Country Leadership Team, function heads, META, and global stakeholders.
Participate in, manage, or lead ad-hoc activities where relevant.
Understand and support the Finance Control Framework and policies.
You will need to be successful in:
Qualified CA (SA), CPA, CIMA, or relevant Accounting/Finance accreditation.
Minimum 8 years post-qualification experience.
Proven people management experience.
Relevant experience in extracting, interpreting, and reporting Management Information, and balancing financial and business needs to deliver business performance.
Strong finance, accounting, and commercial background, preferably with experience in the FMCG industry.
Experience working in a functional matrix organization; experience within the lubricants industry is a plus.
Fluency in English.
