Job Description:

This role will sit in the Embedded Finance team and will be supporting Latin America region.

The role ensures financial rigor, compliance with local regulations, and commercial value optimization across Exploration & Appraisal activities, projects and operations. The Finance & Commercial Advisor acts as a key cross functional collaborate with supply chain, legal, tax and technical teams to enable efficient decision-making and execution of business strategies.

Job Synopsis

This business facing Finance & Commercial role supports the Senior Finance Manager in (1) Commercial Development & Investment Decision (2) Leading Joint Ventures & Commercial operations (3) Business Planning & Governance (4) P&L delivery & Area Performance Mgmt. and (5) Oil & gas pricing, sales & marketing (where applicable).

The role is also responsible for the identification of continuous efficiency improvements in performance processes and will be the interface between Embedded Finance and the Performance team in the Finance FIT.

Key Roles and Responsabilities

1. Business and financial delivery:

  • Support delivery of P&L/ financial, including finding opportunities to bring efficiencies
  • Provide inputs, challenge to business / functions on effectiveness of their plans and strategies, risks and mitigations, including QPF and Area Business Reviews
  • Review and challenge judgements on plans and forecasts with Government, JV/OBO partners
  • Work on ad-hoc projects and requests supporting the business leadership team and the planning and performance management initiatives
  • Support the preparation, analysis, and presentation of annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans for operated and non-operated assets.
  • Provide financial insights and variance analysis to guide operational and strategic decisions.
  • Monitor and control operating and capital expenditures, ensuring alignment with corporate and JV budgets.
  • Lead cost recovery and cost allocation processes for Brazil assets in accordance with JOA and PSC terms.
  • Run financial performance tracking for projects, ensuring adherence to corporate important metrics and local reporting requirements.

2. Commercial Development & Operations and Contractual Support:

  • Lead commercial evaluation / analysis of activities working closely across internal and external interested parties including JV partners.
  • Working closely with bp functional and technical teams, enable business/investment decisions based on sound economic analysis and cases.
  • Give to strategic planning, portfolio optimization, and cost efficiency initiatives. Support ADP development and options to establish optimal long term technical and commercial solutions.
  • Work towards business rigor and adherence to bp Strategy applied to all cases for projects
  • Commercial / business evaluation to support various license access government rounds in P&O
  • Support negotiations and evaluations of third party agreements, new / modified JV agreements, midstream etc.
  • Lead internal and external reporting requirements, Impairment analysis, Area Development Plan etc.
  • Commercial/legal dispute with governments, co-venturers, customers, or other counterparties –provide business insights and analysis in support of dispute resolution to protect / preserve bp's position
  • Support due diligence process as necessary
  • Creation and delivery of Commercial Action Plans to support progression of asset project activity
  • Advise on commercial strategy for contracting, procurement, and vendor management in compliance with both company policies and Brazilian regulatory frameworks (ANP, PPSA, local content).
  • Conduct financial and risk analysis to assess commercial proposals, pricing structures, and investment scenarios.
  • Ensure commercial integrity of agreements, including performance guarantees, payment terms, tax implications, and risk-sharing mechanisms.

3. Joint Venture Management and Partner Engagement

  • Serve as financial and commercial focal point for partners, government agencies, and internal collaborators.
  • Support joint venture audits, cash calls, and cost verification processes.
  • Review and respond to partner or government queries related to financial and contractual matters.
  • Lead/support alignment with JV partner(s) as we navigate joint sophisticated business issues with external interested parties.
  • Build and maintain informal/formal relationship and work closely with Partner(s) to jointly progress new project developments and operations in line with agreed plan and mature options for building our future.
  • Coordinate and integrate functional input to JV meetings and ensure alignment with obligations and agreed strategy.
  • Support in developing alignments, mitigations with JV partners and governments / agencies including on plans / WP&B and approvals.
  • Lead and implement commercial obligations, rights and triggers, JV Finance & commercial risks. Support commercial disputes with co-owners, governments or other JV counterparties.

4. External interested party management & compliance oversight

  • Build and be part of local external relationship with operated and non-operated JVs, regulator, Government agencies, etc.
  • Handle and respond to information requests from multiple external interested parties
  • Ensure compliance with Brazilian financial, tax, and local content regulations, including ANP and Repetro requirements.
  • Coordinate with local auditors, tax, and regulatory bodies as required.

Business Expertise

  • Confirmed experience working in or with Brazil’s regulatory environment (ANP, PPSA, Repetro, local content).
  • Experience in multinational and joint venture operating environments.
  • Validated ability to interpret and advise on commercial contracts and sophisticated financial arrangements.
  • Expertise with the regional business models, understanding the key business drivers and emerging external landscape. Able to shape and influence.
  • Reasonable level of business knowledge across core bp businesses and understanding of the integrated value chains within, including understanding the key regional and dynamics.
  • High level of commercial competence across key bp commercial constructs, with experience operating witsophisticated commercial and regulatory environments.

Leadership

  • Ability to build capability, influence beyond formal reporting lines
  • Deliver improvement in execution that adopts the opportunity to add new value, working closely with other business managers to share beprocedurefind more efficient ways of working and collectively drive performance
  • Clear and concise communicator – able to build awareness and support of the wider Finance and Business community
  • Participate in the site leadership team and support the broad business and people agenda across the site

Job Requirements And Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

Degree in Business and/or Finance and/or Engineering or equivalent

Preferred Education:

Postgraduate degree in Business and/or Finance/CA/CFA/CIMA/ACCA

Minimum Experience:

10-15 years of validated experience in a commercial business with responsibilities covering commercial or financial management within a manufacturing, production or supply business, leading financial delivery of a business and delivering change projects across the organization

Preferred Experience:

Around 15 years of validated experience in a commercial business with responsibilities covering commercial or financial management within a manufacturing, production or supply business, leading financial delivery of a business and delivering change projects across the organization.

Knowledge and experience in working with Oil & Gas business will be an added advantage.

Proven track record to build and maintain internal and external relationships in resolving issues.
