As the Senior Manager, Procurement Data Governance & Analytics, you will play a pivotal role in advancing data domain excellence across the Procurement function. You will lead the strategic harmonization, governance, and optimization of procurement data, shaping the future of bp’s procurement data architecture and enabling data-driven decision-making at scale. This role is accountable for embedding robust procurement data ownership, governance, and reporting frameworks; integrating complex data sources; and driving effective data usage of procurement processes and systems.
You will serve as the central interface between Procurement, the enterprise Data Offices, and Technology teams – ensuring alignment on data standards, policy consistency, and system design.
As the champion for data quality, innovation, and digital transformation, you will empower procurement teams and leadership to enhance data integrity, improve operational efficiency, and unlock greater business value for bp.
Key Responsibilities
- Discipline strategy development: Lead the development of a strategic vision and operating model for the Procurement Data field by working closely with internal teams and collaborators to define objectives, success metrics, and a roadmap that advances procurement data maturity and business impact across the function.
- Data Strategy & Governance:
- Partner with bp’s Data Offices to implement a tailored data strategy for the Procurement function.
- Act as the interface between Procurement, Technology, and the Data Offices to institutionalize data ownership and develop a culture of accountability across the procurement organization.
- Define and own the execution of a forward-looking roadmap to elevate data maturity in Procurement, ensuring alignment with the bp’s long-term strategic objectives.
- Identify the critical data assets (and sources of procurement data) required to drive key procurement decisions and collaborate with Data office and Technology teams to establish optimal mechanisms for their capture, integration, and accessibility.
- Data Quality & Reporting:
- Identify and support procurement data owners and operationalize data quality critical metrics that are relevantly linked to procurement business outcomes, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
- Review and interpret data quality critical metrics and dashboards across Procurement to proactively identify hotspots and lead recommended/targeted interventions that drive measurable improvements.
- Sponsor and supervise strategic data cleansing initiatives to enhance data reliability and unlock operational and commercial value.
- Partner with multi-functional procurement teams to identify and synthesize systemic data issues, and lead pivotal initiatives or programs to address them at scale.
- Partner Engagement & Leadership:
- Serve as a trusted data partner to senior Procurement and enterprise leaders, shaping the procurement data agenda in lock-step with the wider enterprise data goals.
- The role will need to influence and work with individuals across the procurement function that do not directly report to them.
- Data interface to Finance, Technology, Procurement and Operations teams to align data initiatives with business priorities and enable integrated decision-making across functions.
- Represent Procurement’s data interests in data governance forums and transformation programs, ensuring the function’s needs are embedded in broader data and digital strategies.
- Lead high-impact workshops and multi-functional teams to drive execution of data initiatives that streamline processes, enhance visibility, and deliver measurable business value.
- Champion digital transformation within procurement by demonstrating data-driven approaches to streamline processes, enhance visibility, and drive continuous improvement.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Champion the adoption of AI, automation, and advanced analytics to modernize data ingestion, cleansing, and reporting processes across Procurement.
- Monitor emerging technologies, industry trends, and standard methodologies to enhance Procurement’s data capabilities and maintain a competitive edge.
- Actively support the scaled agile framework by aligning data innovation initiatives with investment planning cycles and resource prioritization.
- Drive procurement data culture and continuous improvement by finding opportunities to streamline data workflows and unlock new sources of business value through digital innovation.
- Team leadership:
- Builds high performing teams by fostering a culture of collaboration, perfection, and continuous improvement. Their team has deep technical skills.
- Engages across the wider procurement organization to ensure delivery of their objectives.

- Leads major change initiatives, for their field, which make procurement more efficient or effective. Delivers projects in a dynamic environment.
- Supervises orchestration of change across a diverse partner landscape.
- Demonstrates digital tools to drive innovation and value creation.
- Use storytelling, influence, and good communication to drive adoption, while applying metrics, objectives and key results, and structured organizational change to ensure long-term sustainability of outcomes.
Essential Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Data Science, Business Analytics, Procurement, or related field.
- Demonstrable experience in procurement data leadership roles, with a focus on spend reconciliation and data harmonization.
- Solid understanding of data governance, data quality, and integrated analytics platforms.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of working across business functions.
- Demonstrable experience in procurement data management, analytics, or finance transformation.
- Solid understanding of procurement systems (e.g., Ariba, SAP), data architecture, and governance.
- Strong programme management experience. A deep understanding of bp’s strategy and objectives, especially in relation their field. Excellent partner engagement, influencing and storytelling skills.
- Lead their team in handling their field, making interventions and dealing with critical issues.
- Have high level of conceptual thinking, for instance, to develop strategic options and mitigations and to lead their teams in developing and implementing innovative solutions.
- Strong senior partnering, networking and influencing skills to ensure agreement, adoption and embedding of change.
