Working hours - 14:30 to 23:30 IST

The Process Safety Engineer is a key role which assists the Global Process Engineer and the local plant Engineering resources in delivery of process safety and process engineering objectives in the relevant PUs. The role brings the global expertise required to manage the compose, operation, control and optimization of our critical engineering and production equipment to meet customer and technical requirements while addressing quality, safety and operational risk.

The Process Engineer will support the process (safety) engineering network and provide process engineering capability in the relevant/associated PUs. The role will also develop, implement and provide assurance on the Lubricant specific standards, technical practices and processes for manufacturing operations in the Global Supply Chain in line with delegations from the Group.

You will also be part if complex engineering tasks and solutions at plants, implement steering and coaching in plants which require up to 30% of travel.

What you will deliver (responsibilities)

Articulate key outcomes and accountabilities that this person will deliver to be successful in this role. Ensure you describe the deliverables the results you want the job holder to deliver and not the process you expect them to apply to get to these outcomes

Facilitating & leading Process Safety Network within their sphere of influence. Assuring the implementation of process design standards, common practices & solutions across the supply chain.

Setting clear requirements for process safety and process engineering within the GSC

Bringing engineering competence in process design and process safety competence with focus on design of Lubricant processes. Reviewing and approving Management of Change (MoC) for process and process safety related changes within their remit.

Provide engineering functional support/guidance to the Global Supply Chain related to the concept development, basic engineering (FEED) and detailed engineering of major project & process related activities.

Maintaining an independent view of implementation of requirements for operational and functional process safety requirements in all GSC operations.

Developing and coordinating the implementation of technical standards, engineering policies, processes and standards required for safe and efficient operation of the assets within the Lubricants SPU.

Support & Lead process safety, operational and quality studies for comprehensiveness, and accuracy. Share learnings across the process engineering network to ensure common practices across the global supply chain.

Deliver technical solutions at plants together with local Engineering teams

What you will need to be successful (experience, job requirements & qualifications)

At least 10 years broad engineering experience with preferable 5 years in managing process plant, maintenance and asset integrity.

An attitude of continuous improvement and be an active champion of change with a desire to improve current performance.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence, manage conflict, and increase team performance.

Strong networking build and maintain a dispersed network of professionals - sharing procedure between plants and regions.

Working experience beyond India in ANZ, East and/or SE-Asia. The ability to work across numerous cultures.

Ability for up to 30% of travel.

Supports - Key stakeholders include BTC Engineering Team Lead, Plant Engineering Teams and Plant Managers. Also works with Castrol HSE&C Teams and S&OR.

Effective leadership and influencing skills to deliver the accountabilities in this role while operating through a zone of influence through a network.

Uses a wide range & depth of technical or niche knowledge and provides technical leadership & expert advice to others.

Provides technical coaching / professional mentorship and assists in the development of others.
