Job Description:

Role: Operations Technician – Mechanical Focus
Location: Senegal

Work Schedule:

  • 28-day offshore rotation followed by a 28-day field break

  • Standard 12-hour shifts

We’re looking for a dedicated Operations Technician to help us deliver safe, compliant, and efficient operations at our facility in Senegal. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Operate safely and reliably by following BP’s HSSE and Operating Subject area standards—your commitment helps protect people and the environment.

  • Supervise and control equipment and processes, ensuring everything runs within defined parameters. If something’s off, you’ll raise it with site leadership.

  • Optimize plant performance by finding opportunities for improvement and working with the Operations Support team to make it happen.

  • Implement operating tasks efficiently and safely, including routines, SOPs, and basic care activities.

  • Ensure process safety compliance, identifying any gaps and seeking approval for corrective actions—this includes managing overrides, leaks, handovers, and more.

  • Follow Control of Work requirements by preparing isolations, performing integrity checks, and safely reinstating equipment after maintenance.

  • Stay aware of site risks, reporting any emerging issues to leadership to keep operations safe and stable.

  • Support continuous improvement by finding opportunities and participating in root cause investigations.

  • Review and update procedures to ensure accuracy and relevance in daily operations.

  • Provide recommendations to planning and projects, including TAR (Turnaround) preparation, and support vendors and visitors as needed.

What You Bring:

  • Experience in mechanical operations or maintenance within an industrial or energy setting.

  • Strong understanding of safety protocols, process control, and operational team.

  • Ability to identify risks and improvement opportunities with a proactive mentality.

  • Familiarity with SOPs, Control of Work systems, and process safety tools.

  • Excellent communication and partnership skills—you work well with others and keep everyone advised.
